Can't say I'd pay three and a half thousand dollars for a bland table with some random clockwork stuck in it. Total and complete bloody ripoff.

Plus a few bills in shipping to the US, and claiming said item.

Insanely overpriced junk marketed on the assumption that cheap attemps at steampunk = money counts as a scam to me.  Glueing gears  on it is bad enough, glueing gears on it and charging four and a half thousand dollars? Pfffft.

If I understand it correctly, the topic starter is the seller?
I do like the idea, i don't like the level of detail. As for the price, well... Others before me have answered that question.
What is the top made off? Is that glass?

They could have done so much, too! Inlaid antiqued brass, copper piping, lighting!

Not that much extra work, but would have made this worth at least some money!

Casting resin
It looks terrible. Making it level might change the look. That said, I don't think I would want to play poker on a shiny table. (mirror effect, looking into opponents cards)
But casting resin means that any alteration to the table top is impossible.

I'm not familiar with the bay of E. I understand that the bidding ends august 9th. Are the 9 watchers also the people who bid on the table, or are they just watching the bidding? And can we see the bids somewhere?

Watchers can be both people who want to bid or just want to see the outcome of the auction.  I sold on the bay of E for over 10 years and that "watcher" number can be quite deceptive.  You get excited by a high watcher number and they will be reminded by ebay four hours before the auction ends.  No one wants to bid before the end because it just drives the price up so they watch.  Then, at the end - nothing.  Not one bid.  It is interesting to note that 50% of all auctions on ebay will close without a bid.  Fortunately, most of my wares sold first time around with some lucrative bidding wars.

When, or if, there is a bid you will be able to see it but only the first and last letter of the bidders name to protect their privacy.

That's a nice table. I'll really have to build me one of those.

It looks nice, but really, all it is doing is taking a normal table and imprinting a design over it, and charging it at a higher price.  With labour costs included, it still is just a giant scam.

Anyone agree this would be more suited to a Western Saloon?  It lacks the oomph of pure steampunk construction.  Personally, I would use a much darker wood/ stain than they are using now, increase the contrast by using lighter colours for the emblems, shine up the dials. and send it down to the local pub.
