An old bag that looks like or is worn like a sporran would be a good choice with the kilt, I'm thinking..

Definitely a sporran. Also, if you can work it in time, how about a couple of hefty brooches or similar on the sash, maybe linked together with some thin chains?

 If you are intending to bring some one back to look at your etchings , shove everything under your bed and spray around some lynx.

Check out the opportunity  and charity hops for a cheap  retro leather  [or vinyl] shoulder pouch ,  purse or small satchel;  insignia or lodge pins [ any official looking badge will do].  Argyle socks, tastefully patterned tie, fair isle vest.
