I thank you all for the comments, they are most helpful. The next time I have a proper development in this (hopefully in the next week or so) I'll definitely add a picture to show how it's coming along  Cheesy

Were you there on the Saturday or Sunday? If it was the Saturday then I might have a photograph of you... Check the website below

It was the Saturday Fenris, I've seen a few where I know I am hiding behind someone (you can't see me, but I know I'm there)

Here is a pic of my Post-Apocalyptic/Diesel Punk outfit I submitted into a Costume Contest and was one of several other winners.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It was heavily inspired by the Gyro-Copter Pilot in the Film Road Warrior.

Here is another that also won the contest.

My point is that whenever I think Post-Apocalyptic I think of the Mad Max films or the film Hardware.

The "gyrocopter guy"  character is a classic.

The 1st 2 mad max films  were the better of the series.  For plot and costumes .  They were also the made on the smell of an oily rag.

I recently acquired this lovely old leather jacket. Wouldn't it be such a shame if anything were to happen to it...

Impressive, my jacket isn't anywhere near that. It's dirty though and missing a sleeve now. The jacket and trousers will appear tomorrow when there is better lighting. Although my drive now looks like it's been moved closer to the beach.

Sorry did I forget to mention?
In need of a home for a very reasonable price (it is a touch of a fixer upper)

It has been tested in the dance floors of many a goth club. With moshtastic results. It doesn't like the rain through.

Haha! and there's the dilemma. Funnily enough there is another conversation about spikes (or lack thereof) in Steampunk going on at the moment. And why not I say, I think there are enough of us old Goth/Punk/New Romantic types around here we could probably build a few suits of armour if we pooled all our old studs together (I've still got mine).

Biggest problem is nowadays they're almost always chrome or black. When I was a kid all I could ever find were the brass ones.

If I may be so bold as to say that the last one may not be such a good look for him.  Just saying.

Some progress on the outfit, photos a little later than expected (damn rechargeable batteries). Neither of these are finished, but this is the work so far.

The Jacket

The Trousers

I'm halfway through sewing on that kneepad.

As always, feedback is appreciated. If anyone has any suggestions on what colour the shirt underneath should be (before being dirtied up) they are also welcomed, because I'm not sure of a good colour at the moment (contemplating a grey)

And going back to the post-apocalypse, I recommend having a bag of some sort to do just the sort of thing we were talking about.  Look around for gas mask bags, they are a lot tougher than gym bags and are big enough to carry a fair amount, but small enough to not be too much of a burden, and depending on how the apocalypse happened....you lifted it from a dead guy whose mask had failed him.   Grin

Or grabbed it from an overturned military vehicle while you were evading a roadblock.  Ditched the mask itself but kept the filter as a spare for your own mask.

I'd suggest that you go for a bit more wear and tear on the back.

Almost feels like resurrecting a thread I'm so terrible with taking WIP. I get caught up in the build and forget to take the photos, but I digress.

This is Version 2 which had it's debut at MCM on Saturday. Photos are limited as I was mostly taking them for those I was with, but here we go. It has been 3 days and I am already mentally changing parts of the outfit and adding more elements, partly thanks to the lovely Steampunks manning the exhibition.

I've found some more shots from someone else I was with (excuse the poses, I can't quite remember what was going on). These are from some other angles and shows off the back a little more.
