Today i saw a well known breakfast cereal company has produced a cog-shaped cereal and the packaging features a wooden cog motif. And crocodiles. I realize I'm torn somewhat between two reactions. On the one hand I'm concerned that this might be evidence of steampunk being eaten out from within by commercialism, doomed to become a tragic pitiful parody of itself. On the other hand though, cogs + crocodiles = win.

Are you sure the 'cogs' were not just a misguided attempt to draw a ship's wheel?
(a quick search did not bring up an image of the box in question)

I found no pics online either, they appear to be quite new. But they are definitely cogs (or gears?). I think now clockpunk would be a more accurate description, having read the back of the box. The idea is some wily crocodiles have built a da vinciesque jungle-tech helicopter to steal the secret formula (or something), and the cereal's monkey mascot defeated them by leaping up and pulling out the most important cog. He kept it as a trophy, and the cog cereal is designed to commemorate the victory. It's called choco copters, an offshoot of coco pops, I dont know if its ok to mention brand names but i'll edit them out if not.

It's probably a try-out to see if the new shapes and colours are populair with the kids. I can't find Choco Copters. I do find Choc 'n' Roll where the cereal is shaped like a ranger badge. A five point star with a circle around it.

Clockpunk crocodile helicopters? Monkeys? Jeez.  Roll Eyes
That sounds to me like the cereal creators came up not with a chocolate flavoured cereal, but with a crack-cocaine-frosted cereal
