Next Sunday is the Malvern Flea Market, join us for a rummage and a picnic.

Any thoughts on when to meet up (presumably in the Flea Market)?

Yours,
Miranda.
We're hoping to be there not later than 9.30am we'll try and lurk within sight of the entrance.

Thanks, but I think it will be rather a challenge to get the brood down to Malvern by 9:30 so I think we'd better try to find the group inside once we arrive. I presume the plan would be to be around the flea market until around lunch-time?

Miranda.

Well you shouldn't have any trouble finding us! Yes, break for picnic then back into the fray. Or have a nap.

Hi Guys, I have a bit of a funny one and may ramble so please bare with me. I joined the forum sometime ago but honestly haven't had the time to explore Steampunk indepth between joining and making this post.

I'm a domiciliary care worker in Wolverhampton, the wife of one of my service users is organising her own birthday party with a Steampunk theme. My service user has a terminal brain tumor and his life expectancy is measured in months not years, these all important months are being spent building memories for his family and helping him to enjoy what time is left while he can.

My service users wife thought it would be nice if any Steampunkers wanted to attend in full regalia to help lend that certain... something to the event. I agreed to put the offer out there as I was already a member on here, they are a really lovely family and so so brave despite everything they're going through.

May 29th
Wolverhampton.

If anyone would like/ be willing to attend they'd be very welcome, just pm me for full details

Thank you.

JUNE 18TH
JUNE 18TH

I had warned you to keep June 18th free and so today I emailed the Learning & Visitor Experience Co-ordinator at Wightwick Manor in Wolverhampton and asked her to put us down as coming on that date. The house offers guided tours before 12 but knowing that most events are like herding cats I have opted to take the freeflow approach from 12 o'clock onwards giving us ample opportunity to admire the house and gardens. I'm also toying with the idea of a bit of tea duelling so get practicing. more details to follow

Duly pencilled into the diary.  All being well I'll be able to prove that my car isn't some mythical object, but rather a thing of steel and plastic and other tactile, reassuringly real, 'stuff'.  (As it strikes me I have yet to actually drive to any of our events).

The date in on our calendar - and not just because it would look odd if there was nothing between the 17th and 19th  Smiley

Exciting times! We will certainly try to be there, other commitments permitting.

Have a splendid time on the 18th June, unfortunately we're already committed to the Steampunk in Cambridge event. (There just aren't enough weekends in the year :-/)

Some of you may be aware that I am gainfully employed in the museum world... And so it is with glee that I have come to announce that Sarehole Mill are hosting an event on 26th June entitled Victorian Bizarre which may appeal to some of the folks here, especially those with a penchant for industrial heritage (or who outside of their steampunk interests are fans of JRR Tolkien). I'll sadly be working rather than enjoying but I'm already planning an ensemble featuring a teacup fascinator for my day in the tea room! If you do come down, please pop in and say hi!

All the details so far are on facebook, and there may well be more announcements in the next few days, so watch that space!
