Takes time to get round all the threads, selected, but eventually they get seen!

Impressive artwork floating around New Zealand, I must say - to which commercial enterprise does the 4 square man belong?

Broadly speaking ,  the 4 Square is a chain of small grocery stores   accross New Zealand. Established in the early 1920s, they may fall into the dieselpunk ethos -  some may argue that the decor  still has that inter war style

Access or ding to the link there is  a few 4 Square stores in Australia.

Very much like the IGA. Not sure if we have any of those left here  - though they are part of local legend

Anyway you can get some progress shots?

No, I won't be in town again until Wednesday. It's most likely to be done by then.

I love Grafittoid murals. I keep thinking I'd like to do one of my riverboat portraits, or something landscape-ish that way someday.

The BBC today is trying (and mostly failing) to work out if graffiti is art: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-38316852

Yes, just so much detail, I'd say it took a long time.
It's in Christchurch on our South Island.

Let's just drop the 'Graffiti' tag for this stuff and leave it at 'Art' - there comes a time when the sometimes more than derogatory 'graffiti' needs to go.

The really nice find is the coffee house in the open roller door. I went through the buildings from the Flinders Street side on Friday and saw inside, due to the roadworks in the lane; they are reasonably preserved inside, though without people worrying about them being pristine, or keeping their original purpose obvious to the casual eye to the point of impracticality. The area controlled by the cafe is full of decorative old stuff, from framed prints through old tools to film cutting/editing reels and microscopes.

Outside Christchurch in a concentrated zone,
Melbourne has the most spray canned art I have ever seen.

I loved it.
A very arty city.

Wow.
Tiger, tiger, burning bright...

Although the 'body' has me intrigued - the head and outline are realistic, but the stripes legs and possibly motion lines are more symbolic... are they some kind of hidden meaning script? Or have I just done too many Rorschach tests?
