My Dears,
There are fifteen pictures of this eerie Opera House Library:

This is the Fiction Nook

Imagine it as the interior of a Steampunk Brain, or at least a Computer Drive.

Certainly, that is how mine works.

Take my camel, dear, said my aunt Camellia, climbing down from that animal on her return from high mass. The camel, a white Arabian Dhalur (single hump) from the famous herd of the Ruola tribe, had been a parting present, its saddle-bags stuffed with low-carat [sic] gold and flashy orient gems, from a rich desert tycoon. . . .

They capture a great moment in time. Ohio has some groovy history.

The Detroit library once had a similar central reading room, then in the mid 1930's, it was deemed old-fashioned and out of date. All the ornate iron work was scrapped and the entire room was torn out and replaced. I suspect that it might have been a New Deal make-work project.
