A collection of images featuring some of humanity's failed dreams and sites reclaimed by Nature.

Would love to visit some of these.

That floating forest is awesome!

This is one of my favorite youtube videos, IIRC it's made by the author of Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

great little video there.  Salton sea is an intriguing place.  They have been cleaning it up recently which has taken away some of its charm

There's also Rabbit island (AKA Ōkunoshima) in Japan, which counts as an adorable abandoned place.

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.''

Some great Gothic Horror there.

Some of the I suppose saddest pictures I've seen are from Chernobyl now. Real horror, not fake!

Ah yes, love us some good necrothreading!

I quote Ms Voltaire's link because I only recently discovered the dark, disturbing, frightening, and sad origin to rabbit island:
"once a secret test site for chemical warfare. Now, it's known as Rabbit Island, "
