I've been having a long hard think about this (not in the biblical, scritching or furpile sense) and apart from the general oddity in it's raw plush form I have the creeping realization that Steampunk loves a bit of plush.
Now before everyone poo-poos the idea, one has to understand the lean of the zoology. There are certain plush things that are positively embraced by the community: Beatrix Potter, monkey butlers, man owls (if you follow Professor Elementals musical videos).
So we have a minor issue here. We love plush when it's the right kind of plush. Historical plush, plush that sits neatly within the genre. So why not embrace all plush? Well that's simple, most of it is badly executed. To be steampunk plush think the fantastic Mr Fox, not half time American football mascot. It's the lack of effort we (or certainly I) decry. Hell, dress up like tweedle dumb and tweedle dee if it floats your airship. Just don't do it badly.

(by god! It's like the plush equivalent of Kappa)
