I do not like coffee. While it smells good, it taste horrid to me. Adding cream and sugar to it does not improve this. I do not like tea either, tea tastes bland to me (especially when iced, as it is often served in the states). I guess I just haven't had good tea.
My caffeinated beverage of choice when available is Mexican Coca-Cola. It tastes better than American Coca-Cola because it is made with sugar and not high-fructose corn syrup (it also comes in quaint glass bottles). Corn syrup is used for no reason but to save money, apparently the Coca-Cola company believes it can shortchange American consumer this way.

Grew up drinking Black Tea, started drinking coffee when I had to do double shifts as an airport security officer ... and now that I'm having to cut back on sugar and other sweets due to diabetes, I'm back to tea. A nice Irish breakfast, Earl Grey or Herbal blend.

Well, it's morning coffee and afternoon tea. What could be simpler?

Over the years, I've lost my taste for coffee, and the smell of it tends to give me a headache after too long of an exposure.
Therefore, it's tea for me. Usually either Earl Grey with milk and sugar, or green with honey. Or a nice chamomile when I'm trying to wind down.

In the morning: Coffee, very strong, nearly black (just a splash of cream), and absolutely NO sugar!
In the afternoon: Tea, either sweet iced tea or hot with cream and sugar.
My father made a trip to India last year and passed through Assam. He came back with several pounds of tea. It is heavenly.

"Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

My usual drink is tea, but I like coffee as long as it is strong and black. Just not as much as tea.
I recently got a French Press and so I recently gained a new appreciation for the drink. I usually have it either Drip (as most Americans are apt to do), or as an Espresso, because let's face it those little porcelain cups are cute. But when it's pressed like that, it brings out a more intense flavor without being quite as overwhelming. I also like Turkish coffee, on occasion.
I love green, white, and oolong teas just as they are; hot, unsweetened and unflavored. Black teas, however, are best either lightly flavored and sweetened, like a good Earl Grey or Chai, or intense and strong with milk and sugar, like English Breakfast or, better yet, a nice hot cup of Lapsang souchong. Strange, since I like my coffee black, but milk just brings out the flavor and aroma of tea.
Iced tea is lovely, particularly unsweetened. I usually take a large pitcher, add a third a cup of tea, cover it with water, and leave it in the fridge overnight. I strain it the next morning, and voila! A beautifully clear, perfectly brewed iced tea. That, or a chai tea concentrate with milk and honey. My mom printed out a lovely guide to making it at home once, but I don't know where she found it so I can't share it with you. It's quite lovely.
That's just my two cents, though.

Coffee is not a drink, it is a religion. It is my one serious vice, and I cherish it. If my doctor told me that for health reasons, I had to give up alchohol I would say "Oh damn, I liked beer.", and I would have similar reactions to giving up chocolate, sugar, etc. But if he told me that I had to give up coffee, we would have a serious difference of opinion, maybe even bloodshed.
I grind my own carefully selected beans in a good quality burr grinder, and use filtered water in my coffeemaker, which was the top rated model on coffeegeek.com. And on Monday mornings, I need it more than I need my blood.
Coffee good.
Well said! I couldn't agree with you more!

I must say that if I do not have my coffee in the morning I am useless for the amount of time it takes me to get to the office and the coffee machine. Those days when I do not have time to sit down at my kitchen table and sip at my extra strong, extra sugary, light on the milk concoctions are always tragic to me, since the office brew just does not cut it. But I could get this right in the vain so I would not have to taste it.
I am a big fan of herbal teas, especially peppermint, but I mostly brew pot after pot of it when I'm sick until I cannot bear the sight of it any longer. Strong black tea with a splash of milk and spoon of sugar is always delightful, though.

Sorry, but I can't help but associate tea with being sick, as it was what I was always forced to drink when ill as a child. (That or Seven-Up.) Probably many healthy, good, and decent people like tea. Forgive my crass comment. Back to my mug of kona coffee.

I just sat down with a cup of Earl Grey. For me, its the perfect thing in the afternoon; calming but stimulating at the same time. On the other hand, my empty coffee mug is behind me; I drink several cups of coffee in the morning and on my way to work, and I love my coffee dearly. Different times and moods call for different beverages. Tonight I'll probably be drinking Scotch, but that is outside the purview of this thread!
