Apologies if this has been posted before. This thread is so big now my P.C can hardly load it so I couldn't check the whole thing.

Cris Ortega does Steampunk, she states there is more on the way. (I'll post some of my doodles when my scanners up and running Cheesy)

here is my newest "tea girl"
i used chamomile for this base of this one. the tea was not as saturated as i would have liked.  i find that earl gray or mandarin orange work really nice.

cheers

This is my illustration for one Finnish RPG-fantasy world, but I think that it's overall appearance is very close to typical steampunk armor designs.

In that RPG-world lives huge beetle species which can eat all kind of minerals from the earth and grows very hard metallic shell during many years. Local people use those beetle shells in part of their armour.

I have also made some 3D-renderings over the years and this is one of my battle robot designs:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Same robot in different scene: http://koti.mbnet.fi/wfan/kuvat/rhino-scifiscene02.jpg

But it's probably more like an retro dieselpunk stuff from the fifties than actual steampunk machinery.

Hmm.. I don't really know what procedural means, but there is at least some kind of description from making process.  Smiley

Original models are built with Rhinoceros 3.0 program and raytraced with plugin called Flamingo. I also used some own textures what I made with Photoshop, but most of them I found from programs own repertory.

There is also closer look from that walking robot model: http://koti.mbnet.fi/wfan/kuvat/rhino-robo01.jpg

Asuming you do know what I mean with UV mapped, procedural texturing would (also) work on models without UV mapping.

It was probably procedural texturing.. (I have used 3D-programs mainly in finnish settings, so I don't know right term very well.) Last time was also some years ago, because I have only used Rhino mainly in my schools 3D-courses and the program doesn't work properly when I tested it with my own computer.

No room on this airship for four times fifty living men, but I wanted to focus on the two figures *and* be able to get most of the airship into the image.

It is a shame you live all the way around the globe. There is an art contest here that I am a contestant in - $250,000 first prize, $100,00 second prize, etc...

My project for this year is the sort where I would love to have some co-conspirators/collaborators who are as skilled in metalworking, especially someone who could do it so imaginatively.

Lovely work.So glad you found us.

Ohhh! Dude, that's just cool. That's just really cool. Interpreting such a major work of poetry is ballsy, but very cool. It'd be positively terrifying to be on an airship that ragged, though. I admit, before I looked at the title of the piece, I was struck with the impression that I was looking at a doomed Leonardo da Vinci!

Sounds exciting! I wish we had more things like that in Australia - does sometimes feel like the dark side of the moon here Sad

Best of luck in the contest
