Well, since this wasn't selected as the Tshirt design for this year's Necronomicon, I thought I'd post it here.

Ha! I was just thinking, McCannon: "That's a bit Mike Mignola-esque in its use of darkness" and then I click on the link and low-and-behold...

Thanks for the kind words, good sir! The piece is actually composed of two parts: a pencil sketch which I scanned into the computer, and a photo I took while traveling by jet. I layered the sketch over the photo using Photoshop Elements.

That would be because he is. It's a simple, classic design, full of design cues I've seen elsewhere but put together very, very nicely.

Something about the airships in the background being “sparkly” I find particularly appealing.

Thanks both, and yes it's from my dreams, but there's a story coming along with it to.

Was finally able to post this one to my deviantArt account: Steam Powered Robot Complete with swanky couple, a speck of a scottish terrier, a mechanic with a bloody great monkeywrench, and of course, a roboty thing which is basically a glorified boiler. Thanks for looking!

I thought I'd share this with you - I've finally got around to scanning it in. It's a biggie - just over A3 size - so not all of it has fitted onto my scanner in the two A4 passes. It's not entirely steampunk, but I think it kinda fits in here better than anywhere else in the world I can think of! Here's a little preview: And the great big high-res scan can be found on my Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/doctorwhen/2831624712/sizes/l/I've not really picked up a pencil for a decade - this is from my pre-digital days and is a bit battered and stained... but I think this, if anything, gives it a bit more character. Hope you like it.
