I revisited my Victoriental design, with considerably more time spent on the execution (I apologise in advance for any shock caused by the representation of an exposed thigh!) And a logo to somehow emblazon upon my leather messenger bag - I'm trying to think of a suitably steamy name for a courier company to go on the scroll

There's so many great pieces of art here! I love to see other steampunk artists at work. Here's one of my drawings... a steampunk automaton with her *ahem* workings exposed. Some others can be seen in my deviantart gallery. ( http://robpowell.deviantart.com/)

A quick fashion sketch I did, apologies for the lowered quality, there was some difficulty in scanning it.

Not really art per se, but I just found a way old backup disc with some old photoshop material on it. Here's a VW Beetle thing I did. I have no idea what I was thinking, or what drugs I was on when I made it. Please excuse the crappy photoshopped "mud", I was experimenting a lot with some techniques back then.. It's probably 4 years ago or so I made this.. In retrospect, I guess it's sort of dieselpunk, though I had no idea such a thing even existed back then.

Well...here's some line art that I just finished. Steamy Zaphod, in a smoking jacket, and goggles. And yes, that's the steamy sonic screwdriver in his pocket ( a project that I'm working on).

Steampunk gave me a real inspiration boost when I just wasn’t making any progress with my drawings, so here I just have three drawings I made. I’m not sure how steamy they really are, but they’re inspired by the general aesthetic. This is not the whole image, so can’t see his fabulous boots I can’t compete with all the amazing artists on here, but I hope I will improve further I want to be an animator one day!

Those are nice, you've got something there.
If you want to be an animator then life drawing is the basis of everything. I can recommend carrying a small sketchbook everywhere and never stop doing little thumbnail life studies of byestanders when you have a minute to spare. Lots of animators are athletic or musical as well, it's to do with timing and body awareness.

Hey, you're already better than me, so I wouldn't put yourself down. Let's just hope your skills aren't renedered obselete before you even get into animation (what with all these CG films coming out).

Well, even if you go into CG you should know a thing or two about anatomy.

Rather nervously posting my first steam-themed painting. She's not complete, and the scan has done odd a couple of odd things to the skin tone that I haven't fully corrected.

Very cool style and by gods you're actually extraordinary at the visual arts, apparently. I honestly didn't expect anything like that to come from you--I didn't know you were an artist! Smashing!

Why, thank you all for being so nice about my drawings The ones I presented here are more of the stylized kind, I am just working on improving my skills of life drawing. (I'd prefer strongly not to show them off yet because I don't fancy showing others art that I'm not exactly content with.) Smaggers, I thank you for your advise! I know that as an animator, you should also be a top-notch artist in general (at least that's what I learned from my beloved The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams) and instead of trying real animation already, I focus first on becoming a good artist over-all. It is quite challenging!

Finished! Here's my <completed> steampunkish Zaphod; complete with: goggles and smoking jacket. Please click for full size. The background was found wallpaper of Cassiopeia-A-Supernova found at wallpaper.net: http://www.wallpaper.net.au/wallpapers/space/Cassiopeia-A-Supernova-1-1024x768.jpgI'm still learning how to digitally color, shade, & textures. So...critiques are greatly appreciated. NOTE: Zaphod Beeblebrox is the the creation of the late-great Douglas Adams, not me. I just took some artistic liscence with him (ie: there's normally nothing steampunkish about Zaphod.)
