I mean no disrespect by this, Dr Bobbins..I hope you meet up with some other steampunks soon but your post inspired me...

(Sung to tune of 'Oklahoma')

Ohhhhh-klahoma!
Where the Steampunks never seem to go
Where there's no top hats
Or chaps in spats
And fancy goggles aren't on show.

Ohhhhhh-klahoma!
Every day my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and sulk
That no gas filled hulk
Is floating slowly 'cross the sky.

We know that we can't be alone
But the locale of others isn't known

And so we saaaaay
It's much to our dismaaaaay
We've yet to meet one
Steampunk from ol' Oklahoma
Oklahoma! OK l-a-h-o-m-a
OKLAHOMA!!

I am quite flattered Captain It seems I am walking a lonely road. I've have friends that say they like steampunk but don't really know or want to know what its actually about I guess not everyone has the Steam Spirit within them. Smiley you have lifted my spirits and for that I thank you

What part of Oklahoma are you in?  I'm from Kansas myself but I know there are groups in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, and recently one has started up on the campus of OU.  If you are on facebook I suggest you look up COGS - Central Oklahoma Grassland Steamers, they can point you in a better direction to finding other locals in your area than I can.  While you are at it feel free to look up the GPS - Great Plains Steampunk facebook page, it is mostly the Kansas steampunk connectivity page but it has grown to include members from most of the US, a few from Britain, and even one from New Zealand.

Thanks  Smiley I'm actually from Adair County Oklahoma in a little backwater town called Stilwell. If you aren't familiar with that area it's considered Northeastern Oklahoma but If you drive south it's not long before your in Southeastern Oklahoma

Two Oklahoma steampunkers reporting in from Moore! There are quite a bit of Oklahoma steampunkers out there. I have a few (non-fanatic like me and my girlfriend) steampunk fans at my work alone! I went to Octopodicon last year and found a pretty avid following here in Oklahoma. Not as much as I've found in other states, but that honestly was expected.
