My Delightfully Steampunk Boots

Finding normal shoes in a Size 11 is difficult at best. I usually buy boots from one of the online army-surplus places, my current footwear being a pair of these http://www.surplusandadventure.com/ishop/800/shopscr2622.html

They do take a few days to break in, but after that they're very comfortable.

But I just found these from zappos.  I love zappos' return policy (free return shipping, up to 1 year return - so long as they're still new in appearance) so I'll be ordering their largest size today...

Just wondering are these the boots you mentioned in your first post, as they only seem to have the dark brown, and only go up to 10 =/...

Yes, those are them, but the leather is slightly lighter in reality. Also, if you look at the sidebar on the left, they go to womens size 12.

Hmm.. I'm not really the biggest fan of Fluevog Shoes. Maybe it's just my feet, but I always found them rather unflattering and chunky-looking.

When it comes to boots, I'm still a firm believer in my black 20 eye Dr. Martens boots (without zip of course. Zips are made in hell.). Winters here are cold and icy and I need warm, comfortable and solid boots. My Docs have guided me safely over Serbian minefields, all along the Seven Sisters, to Lizard Point and Land's End and even to the top of Mount Pilatus and the Aletsch glacier. Yup.

However, they have now reached a certain age and look a tad too militaristic to still wear them in the gallery, so I decided to get something a little more subtle from a small local shoe shop:



It's a shame that you can't really see all the details on that image, but the soft leather and the delicate Italian details are very neat.

Those are some very nice boots indeed. The leather has such a wonderful color to it.

Thank you, sir. The leather is indeed pretty special in its colouring and it actually changes slightly according to the outside temperature. It's most fascinating.

     These are not boots, but I had to share my charity sale finds today.  For $10US total, I got an unworn pair of brown velvet JLo wedges with bronze leather heels about 5 inches high, and a pair of pointy toed grey tweed Calvin Klein pumps with a black heel.  I would never buy either of these brands at their usual price, but since the sale didn't have any goggles, shoes are the next best thing.

Vienna, I know the feeling!  I just went to a discount shop and got a pair of BCBG pumps for $20.  And they're brown and bronze... ooh la la!




Another recent find: olive suede boots for $15!  Not name-brand, but pretty.

My knees are on the Internet?  How scandalous!  Please excuse.   And yes, ha ha, it's a Myspace mirror picture, but have you any idea how hard it is to take a picture of one's own feet?
