Ladies and Gentlemen, after much obsession and convincing of the parental units I have finally acquired my other half. No, it is not a coin-operated boy but a pair of John Fluevog boots (those well-versed in modern fashion may recognize the designer). For months now I have pined for these boots, being so wonderfully steamy what with the brown leather and brass lacing implements. Without further ado, I present to you my Adrian Michelle boots:

I hope you find them as fantastic as I do, but I leave you with a few words of caution: Those steampunks on a budget should not consider these boots. Being designer and hand-made means that they are unfortunately rather costly. I tried for months to find a pair that was less expensive but had the same look and fit me (womens size 11 is difficult to find) and in the end resorted to squandering my hard-earned summer job money on these. I am justifying that on the grounds that these boots are an investment piece...

I will now end the shameless boot promotion and allow you to go back to drooling over the other wonderful sights on the Anatomical board.

Hmm... Guess these don't work?
My bespoke dress boots, ostrich lowers and kangaroo uppers. Inlay in kangaroo, also.

Those are lovely boots, Harold. They do seem a bit flashy for everyday wear, though  Wink

Those are the "special occasion" boots.. For everyday dress wear its a pair of burgundy kanagaroo. For helping out at the ranch, its a pair of beat up old sh1tk1cker boots with high riding heels...

Col. Hazzard: in the photo of you wearing you boots, you were wearing (i assume) a pair of shorts or a skirt. did you have socks that went to the top of the boots?

to anyone: how horrible would it be for a guy to wear high boots and shorts? i've wanted to try, but never had the courage (or the high boots....)

Oh my, how to explain Western culture.. Boots like that are quite common here in Calgary, you should see some of the stuff that gets made locally. I know a fellow with a pir of alligator boots that put mine to shame..
Heck, I've got some retro Scully shirts that are, to non Western eyes, odd.. How about this?

Granted these are mainly for Stampede, or other Western occsions, but here's a shot taken of me at the office, couple years back..
That's a fairly common mode of dress around here, (you can juts make out the boot-tops in that pic)

Add in some large buckles, and you get the idea (by large, I mean 4" or so)

I was wearing a pair of railroad stripe cuffed shorts, and no socks (gasp!). Why do you ask?

i asked because i don't wear shoes without socks (my feet would be bleeding and people would call me a redneck) and i didn't see any socks. just curiosity mostly.

I do hope you invested in some good brushes and a tin of decent polish so your minions could ensue a tip top finish to your boots....

those are some truly beautiful boots ! I feel your pain.. I too wear a size 11. Sadly the last pair of his boots I tried on were much to narrow.

I got the Michelle Fluevog boots and I really didn't like the way they fit...They were really wide in the toe area... I have small toes I guess...Anywhoo...I decided on a more vintage pair...Plus the price was much nicer!

It's actually done quite often in the Kodona style.  I would link photos but I have a short attention span.  It all depends what you consider shorts.

Perhaps not the best example, but the first one I found Smiley

     Great Boots, Everyone!

I too have mine custom-made, since I have oddly shaped big feet of differing lengths, and extremely muscular calves from many years of physical therapy for my legs.

I must confess I truly now want those boots (Col. Adrianna's not Harold's ^^ ), however a combination of an empty pocket & very arched feet make getting boots most annoying!

I have size 13 feet (= USA 14 I think)...
Joy for me would be to walk into a highstreet shoe shop and buy a pair of shoes that fit me...
I can dream... Sad

My US size 10 feet are starting to feel small.   Unfortunately many shoe companies only produce up to a size 9.  If your feet are anything over that, you have a much harder time finding shoes.  I've been told to look for stores that cater to male transvestites (men dressed as women-I'm not sure I expressed it correctly) because they will carry a wider range of women's style shoes in large sizes.

I am a boot addict.

My favorites:

Brown with buckles.  Extremely comfortable for exploring uncharted territories.

Very ladylike

A pair of beautiful white leather things with lacing

And a pair of chocolate brown suede knee-highs that I can't seem to find a picture of.

Also, not boots but gorgeous Victorian-esque shoes...

*dies* What lovely shoes you have, Miss JLeigh. I've been lusting over a pair of men's shoe inspired heels, myself. However, I think I shall have to wait a while before buying another pair...

Since we're on the topic of boots/shoes and many of you seem to have a knack for find said footwear, I wonder if someone might be able to aid in my search. I have Riding boots and I have many pairs of black victorian shoes or varying degrees of dandiness. I recently got an idea for a character, and feel that the right footwear would make all the difference. what I'm looking for would need to fit my men's US size 10.5 feet, idealy it would be black, with a pointed toe and a bit of a heel to it. if at all possible a silver accent on the toe and shiny leather would be fabulous. I suppose it would be somewhere between effeminate cowboy boots and granny boots, maybe something reaching beyond Victorian to possibly Colonial....
