I seem to go through phases of listening to a small handful bands or artists, and no others, despite my actual collection spanning hundreds.
Right now I'm particularly fond of Creature Feature (the horror-themed musical duo rather than the band), London After Midnight's 'Violent Acts of Beauty', She Wants Revenge, Love and Rockets, Combichrist, and the Crüxshadows. I also seem to be swaying back in Patrick Wolf's direction.
I've never been able to get into Creature Feature. Not sure why.

I have a fondness for morbid humor, their music often makes me smile. I'm not sure if they would appeal quite so much to me if they were lacking that aspect, though.

I like them, they are like Danny Elfman gone all Electro Goth, the only problem I have is that every song on their album sounds the same. Variety is the spice of life and all that right? I've never been able to get into Creature Feature. Not sure why.

to the greater part of his music. As for Creature Feature, I have to agree with you there to the extent VernianProcess (your sound is marvelous, by the way.) The songs on the 'Greatest Show Unearthed' album are all very similar. Still, I do enjoy listening to them very much right now. The macabre carnival feel also reminds me quite a bit of a Japanese group called The Candy Spooky Theatre, although the horror to TCST is genuinely unnerving at times.

Yeah I'm friends (well in a band relationship way) with Voltaire. I can definitely hear the similarity to CST, there was also a band around like 10 years ago called "Sneaky Bat Machine" that had a really similar sound. I like them, they are like Danny Elfman gone all Electro Goth, the only problem I have is that every song on their album sounds the same. Variety is the spice of life and all that right? I've never been able to get into Creature Feature. Not sure why.

I do love some of Voltaire's work. Specifically the USS Make Shit Up. That song had me in hysterics first time I heard it (i'm a massive Trek fan).

I do believe that Sneaky Bat Machine are now Goteki, and have a totally different sound (or maybe they've split up by now?) What I've heard of Goteki was okay but I never had the fortune of hearing Sneaky Bat Machine, everything by them seems to have disappeared. The gothic rock group "Scary Bitches" also thrived on dark humor as a gimmick, although the music is quite different. Have you ever heard the musician who calls himself 'Voltaire', by chance? He has a similar theme to the greater part of his music. As for Creature Feature, I have to agree with you there to the extent VernianProcess (your sound is marvelous, by the way.) I grew up on the Trek and love his "Banned On Vulcan" album.

There's nothing I like more than curling up with some Bailey's and watching ST after a long day. I need to hear the rest of 'Banned on Vulcan'.

I don't watch Star Trek much these days, but then I don't actually own a television (and am too cheap to get the boxsets for my laptop!) I used to love coming home from work and catching an episode, though. I would ask what your favourite Trek is but that'd surely derail the thread.. Fortunately my best friend handed down his copy of 'Banned On Vulcan' to me. It only has four songs, but they're all humorous - ""Worf's Revenge (Klingon Rap)", "The U.S.S. Make Shit Up", "The Sexy Data Tango" and "Screw the Okampa! (I Wanna Go Home)".

I'm not exactly sure how humourous you'd find it, but as for morbid; do you ever listen to Polkadot Cadaver? They're pretty good if you like grim lyrics.

You're welcome; I quite like Chloroform Girl because of the way the lyrics juxtapose with the music, but they have so many good songs.

Let's see I've been listening to a lot of classic Hip-Hop and Electrofunk over the past few days:
Public Enemy, De La Soul, Man Parrish, Shannon, Company B, Slick Rick, The Time, JJ Fad, etc.

For those of you into hip-hop or similar, a group/artist (currently not sure which) by the name of N.A.S.A. has just put out a FABULOUS album by the name of "The Spirit of Apollo", which, quite frankly, features everyone ever. There's a track featuring Cool Keith and Tom Waits, of all things. other tracks feature Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, DJ Z-Trip, George Clinton, Chuck D, Method Man, Kanye West, M.I.A., Santogold, Lykke Li, Fatlip, Ghostface Killah, and others I'm less familiar with. Seriously though, "Spacious Thoughts", the track with Cool Keith and Tom Waits is worth it by itself. At the very least, I recommend hunting that track down.

Angelspit.. my opinion of them seems to vary depending on my mood. This morning however, I'm quite partial to a bit of Blood Death Ivory.

Ahahah! A woman of good taste. That said, have you heard the Nurse Grenade promo EP? Some of the songs on that are fantastic.

I do believe I used to have a few samples from that EP on my old computer, but when it gave up the ghost I was unable to rescue anything (and I've long since torn it apart for it's components.) I'm afraid I can't recall any of the tracks either... Of course, being by Angelspit, I've little doubt that the EP is fantastic. To be honest I don't listen to them often at home, but they're great in clubs.

The new Prodigy album, Invaders Must Die. I got ahold of it, and having heard the title track, many times already (It's been circulating for a few months), I decided to start on the second track onward. Upon the first few seconds I thought, "this is alright," then those drums kicked in, and I went from "meh, this is alright" To "HOLY MOTHER OF GOD THIS IS AMAZING." faster than I think I ever have in my life.
Get that album.

I've never really listened to The Prodigy, at least not properly.. I was involved with a man some time ago who would always play them in his car, but at such a high volume that I would spend the entire journey with my fingers in my ears! I'll also try to find that album, though - people are eternally recommending them!

I understand how a past beau can make or break some musical tastes, but the new album's different enough to be fresh whilst still keeping that distinct Prodigy flair. <3 Aha. Hark at me talking about it like some kind of fine whisky.

Every now and then I like to go back to artists who I originally disliked to see how many taste has changed. Besides, if people which such stellar musical taste as yourself are saying the new Prodigy release is good, I simply have to check it out. And as for the "past beau", the traumatic car journeys aside, he introduced me to 'Faderhead'. I'm a bit iffy on their/his past stuff, but absolutely adore the new album FH3.
