In general, I listen to a lot of punk(the Clash is my favorite band), and some ska (mostly 3rd wave). I've been listening to Super Taranta! pretty much exclusively for like the last two weeks. Cannot get enough of it. Just ordered Multi Kontra Culti vs. Irony and I'm pretty psyched for it to get here. I notice there's a lot of (or at the very least a few ) Gogol Bordello listeners here, does anyone have any similar bands they like? Humanwine Though they dislike being called a Steampunk band

I mostly listen to melodic hardcore. At this moment, specifically,
For the Fallen Dreams In Fear and Faith For Today Our Last Night Misery Signals Blessed by a Broken Heart Oceana
and also... sometimes I like Japanese Visual Kei... but very selectively:
Versailles Hizaki Grace Project alicenine.

I've been currently obsessed with these bands/albums/songs*:
Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (Kind of like a mix between Bowie's Berlin era, Prog Rock, Billy Idol, and Electro)
Telefon Tel Aviv - Immolate Yourself (Really chill, ambient dance music. Cool as hell. One of their members just passed away)
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations (I don't think I need to explain Muse, they're pretty well known)
The Last Shadow Puppets - Age of the Understatement (Incredible 1960's Chamber Rock influenced band. Think Ennio Morricone and John Barry meets Scott Walker, produced by Shadow Morton)
TV on the Radio - Wolf Like Me* (Another cool retro sounding track. Like 50's Post-Punk... about Werewolves)
Beats Antique - A bunch of random songs (Local band that mixes Hip-Hop/Dub/Tribal beats, with retro styles ranging from 60's film music, 40's Jazz/Swing, 00's Ragtime and Circus music)
Ladytron - Velocifero (Newest album by Ladytron... also their darkest, and most danceable yet.)
And of course since I've been working on my own music almost non-stop... Vernian Process lol.

Vernian Process - those are all great albums. A friend of mine introduced me to The Last Shadow Puppets over the holidays. Good stuff.
Xombiegrinn - Neutral Milk Hotel is great. Often credited as being one of the bands that really kicked off the folk-punk genre. Great music with some genuinely odd lyrics.
Sapphire_Distortion - J.U.F. is Eugene's more reggae-oriented side project... think Gogol for the dance club. Also look into Balkan Beat Box, Kultur Shock, DeVotchKa, and Beirut. Not quite as energetic or with as strong of a punk influence as Gogol, aside from Kultur Shock maybe, but all pretty good.

Yesterday, I did my standard music run ... Some Buddy Holly, some Ritchie Valens, Chantilly Lace and Don McLean's album American Pie. I owe the guys -- they died 2/3/59 ... and I was born an hour or two later... Well, alright

Fightstar Muse Franz Ferdinand The Getaway Plan (Aussies) Something With Numbers (Also Aussies) The Red Paintings (Yup, Aussies) What can I say, we pump out some good acts here. :B
Not to mention some of the more popular Bands... Don't hate me! *cough* Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance *cough* Panic at the Disco doesn't fall into the cough area.
And of course, the lovely Abney Park and Vernian Process. Their category is just awesomesauce.
Forgive my babbling, I've had several tim tams with my tea and it is late.

Vernian Process, "Wolf like me" is in heavy rotation on my iPod, along with "Werewolves and Redheaded Devils." Can you see a theme. I also have Abney Park in heavy rotation. But a lot of my listening time is spent with podcasts.

Music currently on my portable listening device:
Coheed & Cambria (All albums) Rush (many albums) Genesis (Rock theatre) Steeleye Span (All around my hat, parcel of rogues) Jethro Tull (Best of) Chemical Brothers (Push the button) White Stripes (Icky thump)
If I could only listen to one it would be Coheed and Cambria without a doubt - they are GODS!

Not listening to it right now, but I do have a fondness for...

Always liked My Fair Lady, and the soundtrack to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory can always cheer me up.

A lot of classical music- Beethoven, Mozart, Rachmaninov and Strauss in particular.
I've got some Metal/Goth stuff too, like My Dying Bride and Within Temptation, which I occasionally listen to.
I tend to go through phases of listening to nothing but one genre, then suddenly shift to listening to nothing but another.
Right now I'm listening to China Steamengine on last.fm.
