Darwin Praetorius

That's a lot of cultural significance in one name, practically a story in itself ^_^

Cousin Itt, take your pick:

Sir Patrick Luke Barkerly
Kaspar Tyrrell Buckker II
Lt. Barclay Pierus Kirker
Lt. Erik Pascual Kirkberry
Eirikur Tyler Blackspark

= iyucetBkLksakrePlirarr

And you get a bonus magickal name, with which to conjure:

Eirikur Per Blackkrystal
= iyucetBkLksakrePlirarr

Eirikur:  Icelandic form of an Old Norse name, meaning "ever mighty."

Per:  Norwegian form of the name "Peter," meaning "rock."

***************************************

Viceroy Gratia, you get a magickal name to conjure with, too:

Artair Althaius Rain

Artair:  Scottish Gaelic form of "Arthur," the name of the great, legendary king of Britain.

Althaius:  derived from the ancient Greek word althos, meaning "healing."

Rain:  an element valued in paganism for its life-giving power, and respected as a powerful force of nature.

Arthur (Artair), yeah I know the feker's history and will never live up to it, such is the curse of a name. Rain is appealing, useful and life giving so in an intellectual sense works but in reality pissing down on people isn't greatly associated with making friends. Apart from not being something I'm in to the chat up line 'hey babe I'm Rain and you look like you need a downpour' would leave me slightly disconcerted if she actually wanted to come home with me.

With this in mind I'd like to talk about Iain, a sort of everyday name that like my surname and forename has a sufficient amount a gaidhlig in it that it's likely to misspelt by every piece of officeldom I've ever encountered, however the derivation is slightly different, it's supposedly about the grace of god rather than the whole Arthurian manliness thing. It's an interesting concept, grace, can be as powerful in feminine or masculine but unlike playing the femme or being the man grace is a concept open to all and often strived for yet rarely achieved. Grace, in this lies a being.

Yours, Gratia... Oh what? You thought I was talking about the real me? Wishful thinking is the driver and destroyer of us all ;-)

Viceroy Gratia, I suspect you are a writer.  That's a compliment -- not an accusation. Smiley

I especially like what you wrote in another topic on this board: "Waft - She wafted in with grace, as if it was normal for your host to have a kraken for a butler."

I'm a self employed graphic designer, though I do specialise in books. More accurately I'm self unemployed, living mostly off charity and planning to jack it all in so that I can do a maths degree. Was fortunate enough to have an amazing English teacher who instead of treating the dope smoking drop out with contempt used to dump books on my desk, Kafka, Ben Okri, Adam Smith, Shakespere, Terry Pratchett, all sorts of stuff, it's a gift given to me and to my shame I've not yet done anything with it.

Nephele,

I've been told more times than I can count that "I'm more stubborn than a rock"  Wink

But since I can do a pretty good imitation of, I think I'll stick with Cousin Itt
