There is an apocryphal tale that when Archbishop Mannix of Melbourne visited Walhalla he was served a haunch of ham that was actually young wombat and was none the wiser.
Now that they are rarer and protected in most environs, they will be one of our few fauna that I haven't sampled.

This is part of the yard of a functioning business, but simply looks abandoned:

There is a number of old dairy factories for sale around New Zealand that  are well past their hey day  of the 20s and 30s

There is an old abandoned dairy co-operative in my town. Too loaded with asbestos to do anything with, so it just sits and moulders away.

Unsure as to whether to call this Abandoned or Steamy Steampunk Buildings. This seems to be part of a building in Fremantle, Western Australia which was left there as decoration when the rest of it was demolished to make parking space.

My latest attempt to get more images of the old Flinders Street shops while standing on the platform.

The following was shot out of a train window at Gordonvale. The place may not be abandoned, I don't know if it just is that run-down anyway; but it looks like that outside of crushing season.

Not sure if this is abandoned, either, but it certainly looks the part. It's a mess.

A few small country churches have popped up for sale over the years too.

Not to mention the occasional city church.

Despite their best efforts to prevent this graveyard looking abandoned, Townsville City Council has little resources available to do any more than you see here:

I also did the Council's heritage tours:

This place is heritage listed as a good example of a Victorian graveyard.

I will be footling around Ireland for 3 weeks - there are some beautiful abandoned places. Out with the camera, I say, and snap away! ;D

Military installations  were aesthetically  designed. This was much effort to go go  for  what is effectivelying look outs and target shooting  boxes. Was it a sense of pride , we're they thinking that if we were invaded , at least the enemy would know  we didn't not have shabby installation.  New Zealand  is dotted with everywhere.  To the point that in the local area there are power boxes  done up to look like military boxes.
