Huzzah for the occassional decency of the school system!
We`ve been thrust into th Scholastic writing Contest.Of course,I went directly for the sci-fi/fantasy category and immeadiately overflowed with ideas.
I request the assistance of you,my humble steamy friends.
Invasion by evil awesomely-cool kroenen-ish masked Russians which requires sky-pirates to help the crown.
OR.......
Sky-pirates steal a rather expensive automaton from a certain Queen and get chased to Australia(yay criminal colony!)and crash.They get followed by an indian hitman and eventually the Royal Aerial Guard.
Any ideas at all?

the sky-pirates crash on australia sounds kinda coolish. Or perhaps do a mix of them both? A kinda two sided blade, while the Sky Pirates are well... pirating the crown they still atend only to protect the crown from the evil rrrrusians  |

Use the first idea. You could make it an updated variation of the Spanish Armada story, with English pirates fighting off an invading fleet. The "history" of the story is already laid out for you, all you have to do is the hard work - making a fictional story fit the facts.
H. Beam Piper did something similar with Uller Uprising, in which he did an updated version of the Sepoy rebellion. David Drake did another work a few years ago, retelling the Ethan Allen story in the future on a colony planet.

Could be some interesting humor in the Aborigines dealings with the various parties, in the English portions vs. the native language talk among themselves.
Almost a stabple nowadays, the explorers from the "advanced" cultures scurrying around with their cunning plans, while the locals shine them on, secretly orchestrating sensible outcomes.

Combine them somehow. Or think of a whole new one. I wrote a short story about a steampunk war; it was British and Ottomans versus Dutch and Inca. I couldnt figure out which side I wanted to win, so the Spanish ended up coming in and conquering them all with automatons.
