It was alright, really. I'd say it was good but not great.
Worth seeing if you like that sort of thing.

Haven't seen it, and I am an avid movie goer. And I don't think I need to, really. I've seen most of the superhero films, but no, not Spiderman AGAIN. Really.
Although, I will be watching Batman.

Bad, miscast, poorly written and poorly executed, wrong characters, no MJ, no Norman Osbourne, no JJJ.
If they were going to reboot they should have done Ultimate Spiderman.
So much good will from The Avengers lost. Will not bE going to he sequel, don't care

Haven't seen it myself but from what I've heard from those who have the prefix of 'Amazing' is something of an overstatement. We'll check it out when it's available on DVD

Well if they called it the Adequate Spider Man, they wouldn't sell any tickets, would they?

I'm pretty much in a minority of not really liking any of the Marvel comics or the characters therein. Therefore the recent spate of movie versions leave me mostly unmoved. Frankly, I'm not that much into DC characters either. Except Batman. I love Batman.

Well,Batman is actually a continuing series, where as, some idiot thought it was a good idea to remake something that is still fairly fresh? Similar to an announcement I heard on a radio station back in 2005 for the next segment of flashback music='Back in the day,1997'. What!?

I liked it. Far better cast than the other spidey movies, I loved James Garfield and Emma Stone, they had great chemistry together. I like that they have him pursuing a relationship with Gwen Stacey as opposed to MJ. The graphics were good, the darker feel was nice. The pacing was a little slow when it should have been fast and a little fast when it should have been slow, but it was entertaining enough that I would like to see a sequal.
With the darker feel, I really want to see them get into the Venom/Carnage/Symbiotes story line.

Don't blame the Avengers, it was made by a different studio. In fact, from what I read, one of Sony's main motivations for the Spiderman reboot was to have it in development before the film rights reverted back to Marvel. It ended up being a reboot instead of another sequel because none of the lead actors from the previous films wanted to do another. Maybe this one will flop hard enough that Sony doesn't try again, and Marvel can finally give Spiderman the treatment they gave Iron Man and crew.

Well,Batman is actually a continuing series, where as, some idiot thought it was a good idea to remake something that is still fairly fresh? It was always only going to be a trilogy. Hollywood is actually going to re-launch the Batman franchise within a couple of years with a whole new cast and concept. Chris Nolan won't direct but I gather he's involved either in an advisory or producing capacity. This new version will tell again how Bruce Wayne's parents's death led him to become 'The Dark Knight'. This is apparently the first of a DC series of films (along with yet another stab at Superman) and The Flash, Wonder Woman and possibly Aquaman all getting a film of their own over the next seven years or so(this may or may not include another crack at The Green Lantern) culminating with an eventual Justice League movie.

I quite like how right now Marvel is going 'IRON MAN 3, CAPTAIN AMERICA 2, THOR 2, EVEN ANT-MAN!' and DC is sitting there going '... we're gonna try and reboot Superman again soon'

I find most of those films OK for a bit of escapism with Nolan's Batman films being the best of the bunch but I'm not expecting anything incredible. I always though the best comics were outside of the Marvel and DC brands. The Maxx was my favourite but they will never make a film of that and they don't have to as the MTV cartoons followed the books almost precisely until the end. Without sending this too far off topic I could throw out some other suggestions: Sandman, Usagi Yojimbo, Strontium Dog, Slaine... In fact, speaking of Slaine there is a fan trailer on youtube that makes it looks like it would be a great film:

at least sandman is DC and i think some of the others could be... DC owns vertigo, which puts out some of the best comics out there; animal man, sandman, the invisibles, preacher, swamp thing, tank girl, v for vendetta... etc etc the list goes on. I would far rather they spent the money on developing one of those titles into a decent movie (animal man developed by David lynch for example) than they rehash a series i was quite happy with the first time...
