My FIRST make...

Hey everyone!

I have finally made some real progress on my first prop/costume piece. I call it The Von Glass Ladies' Thinking Cap.

I started with a bronze kickplate that i cut (via my trusty dremmel) into a small oval. I used a quick epoxy to affix brass acorn nuts, to look like rivets. I also successfully disassembled one of my vacuum tubes so I could insert a small led (harvested from a glowy pool floaty.) I am waiting for my fake flowers (that i resin coated to mimic the appearance of a glass coating) to dry. It is so thrilling to see this project finally get off the ground!

It sounds really interesting! The resin on the flowers is a great touch, I never would have thought of that.

HOW did you get the resin on the flowers?  I would have thought they would be too delicate.
The Acorn Nuts still look like Acorn Nuts and not Rivets, but that is Great too!  They look just as
"Steamy" or more.  It looks great.

I understood him to mean the flowers were artificial to begin with.

Thank you all for the positive feedback! The flowers are artificial, and the resin soaked into the fabric nicely. Im still having some issues getting the led bracket to stay in place, but that should be remedied when i figure out how to mount it onto the brass plate. I will keep posting updates!

I prefer solid mechanical mountings for about anything. BUT! If all else fails EPOXY PUTTY!

Hello everyone! Here's an update!

A bit of fabric bunting for under the brass plate, you know, for the ladies.


The LED Vacuum tube has been hot-glued in place (allowing for easy removal to replace the batteries), Fabric has been hot-glued in place


Feathers Wrapped in copper wire attached, as well as resin-coated flowers!


There was a hole in the opposite side of the flowers, so I added a clock charm (hot-glued in place)
