I don't see anything about Luc Besson though - is he producing this?

Yes..he's the producer (but I had to check the IMDb for that.) Some interesting voices for the English version..Danny Huston and Sean Lennon!
Good to see a  monkey assistant in a hat and waistcoat..even if he isn't a butler! I'll probably give this a look when it's available to rent.

Victor Hugo meets Gaston Leroux by way of Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve.

Paris,1910. Emile, a shy movie projectionist, and Raoul, a colorful inventor, find themselves embarked on the hunt for a monster terrorizing citizens. They join forces with Lucille, the big-hearted star of the Bird of Paradise cabaret, an eccentric scientist and his irascible monkey to save the monster, who turns out to be an oversized but harmless flea, from the city's ruthlessly ambitious police chief.

sounds pretty good to me! Cheesy

Apparently the Disney remake of it's own '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' is back in production with an estimated budget of $150 million whilst the Hugh Bonneville starring 'Return of Captain Nemo' will be a completely 'green screen' 3D effort with a budget of just $10 million.

One of these movies will look good and the other one will have decent acting. I doubt either will be much good. Just my personal hunch.

Sorry, just realised I'm not in the 'Steampunk Movies' thread.....

Well..The Countess and I watched 'A Monster In Paris' at the weekend. I certainly have no complaints about the quality of the animation but the characters and story simply don't have the appeal of  many other of the CG animations I've seen. It has elements of both The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera but for me it was saved by it's steamy elements (set in 1910..we have a delivery man in his steam powered  truck...an intelligent monkey lab assistant..crazy experiments..and a climax featuring a pedal powered airship). If you have coglings they  would probably enjoy this and you can check it out while they watch but it's not something I would recommend to adults (although there are plenty of other CG animations that I would..if you see what I mean)
