I figure Lou is very easy going except for that one thing that changes her from lighthearted engine pixie to rabid badger.  Most everything else is an inconvenience she can overcome with enough force on the right parts.

I was wondering if this universe allows rayguns; I was thinkig that if it did, teh little derringer-like pistol that MW found would be close kin to that tiny-but-powerful little "noisy cricket" that agent Jay was issued in the first MIB movie -- and that MW might discover how powerful it is in much the same way (humorously, of course).

If not, it can just be a derringer
.

Yeah, well... more importantly, do we want to land in the spaceport or somewhere out in the hinterland, or at the prison?

At VC 3, (which is at least a few hours north of our current location) and probably at the edge of the city instead of in the spaceport. I'd think shuttles would be able to land outside of the spaceport normally, since they're (in my mind) capable of landing anywhere flat, without a supporting dock / antigravity well, etc.

And rayguns sound fine, if you like.

The shuttle could land out there, but it would probably cause local mechanics to go running out to 'help' what they would assume is a stricken ship given that it's also just been trailing smoke.

EDIT: I feel I should clarify that the proper word is 'Cytherean' and not 'Venusian' (at least for the time period this is set in), just try saying 'Venusian' out loud and you'll see why.

Hmmm... I guess we'll just have to vacate the shuttle ASAP (unless we want to hijack a rescue vehicle as well...).

I could understand the complaint if not for the fact that, logically, we would have to have done so anyway, given that the shuttle leader and the port both would most likely have been monitoring both our radio transmissions and observing our flight path (whether they could actually see us or were making predictions based on previous telemetry data), and that they would probably have sent out a search party in any case.

As always, however, I can always rewrite if necessary.

Good point...

I was thinking that Mariah's reasoning for landing on the edge of the city instead of the spaceport would be avoiding unwanted attention from the port authorities, since the shuttle is a prison transport and is most likely marked as such. (Yes, I know I failed to mention this earlier.) I guess I didn't think it through all the way about them monitoring our radios and telemetry...

So, I guess we'll have to run for it and hide in the city before anyone catches us...

What makes the most sense to me right now is to get to the city and hide there for a while, and from there scout out the Sabertooth and plot how to steal it. We can't be identified by anyone who will be looking for us once we get rid of the wings, so once we get into the city we should be safe enough from capture.

I'd also like to meet up with Corsair's character while we're there, if he's good with that.

Bear in mind that the surface of Venus will pretty much kill you if you're out there for more than a few hours and aren't wrapped up, goggled and carrying plenty of water.

Goggles are probably the most important thing...

I was planning to have Bailey be all wrapped up in a makeshift keffiyeh (either tied/wrapped on or using his cap as an aqbal), leather trench/frock coat, khakhi trousers, and hobnail boots, with big, cut glass aviators goggles, since he is in fact a pilot (mainly) by trade.

Agreed, especially when flying in the dust-and-mud-filled air.

This has actually made me realise we've never been in a game together where we've successfully had a stint in the far east. The closest we got was back in The Clutch with Li Tung...

We're technically in the same land formation/wreckage but we don't necessarily have to meet up now. In fact I'd almost say it might be better if we meet later. Up to you all of course.

Hmm, where would be the best place / time to meet up then?

(I'm thinking when the weather clears, since I'm guessing we're in different ships and quite a ways away from each other right now.)

I wasn't planning on it... I was thinking we might find some old supplies on the ship (partly scavenged by whoever was there before us) and some traps they left to keep others out while they were away...

Not trying to ignore your idea there, just not really sure what you were trying to set up. If you want to come up with something to find under the rags it's good with me...

Not necessarily; just considering the possibility.

Bailey's wary, he was in a desert campaign on Mars out in the desert around what we call Olympus Mons (the gigantic volcano), and has run into apparently-deserted bolt holes before.

Which gives me the perfect opportunity to come up with another marathon post (ish). I've had a busy couple of days and should be busy again over the rest of this weekend but I'll find the time in there.

My roommate got a smartphone with a wifi hotspot, so I actually have internet at home now! Grin

(oddly enough, this was literally the cheapest possible option up here.)
