Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I've recently undertaken skateboarding as a means to get around quickly as I cannot drive, and the board is easier to hide in my bags than a bicycle. But I got to thinking, most steampunk outfits are often made up of many layers, commonly made from heavy materials, so my question to the good people of the board is this, what suggestions do you have for an outfit one could comfortably wear while boarding? I normally just wear shorts and a teeshirt (occasionally replace the shorts with jeans if it's a bit chilly out) and want to Steam it up a bit, so to speak.

My own thoughts towards this have been a sort of courier look, wear a newsboy cap or flatcap, and replace the rucksack I normally carry with a large leather satchel. But I am open to suggestions, especially on footwear and legwear as shoes with any sort of heel can be a bit of a pain when the heel catches the edge of the board.

I look forward to seeing your thoughts,

My advice is to go for a canvas knapsack rather than a leather satchel (they're pretty common and easy enough to obtain if you know where to look). Other than that I'd say you're on the right sort of track, other than that, the only advice I have outfitwise is go for a pair of dark trousers and sturdy boots with shirt and braces (about as light as you'll find with most Steampunk outfits, unless you want to add a military tunic, and remember in this situation layers are your friend (I assume you're not planning on showing off for the fillies, too much  Wink ), gravel rash is NOT pleasant  Shocked (why do you think Bikers wear leather?).

suppose it depends on how protected you want to be as well as the weather.
but keeping it light, id say some light brown/ tan trousers with braces and a simple A shirt (beater). for shoes, ideally some old leather loafers or the like. but this is steamPUNK. so most anything would work. im a huge fan of some Chucks myself (maybe in brown leather?)
maybe throw on some aviator goggles for windy days.
also, no reason to not wear a pocket watch.

Thanks for the suggestions, I like the idea of Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars for the shoes, but I'm still open for other suggestions. In all honesty I'm not a trick skater, so it's less about protective gear and more lightweight clothes that are comfortable to move about in. I get really hot when boarding because where I live, cold weather is often wet weather so I'm a lot less likely to take the board out. But thank you for all the suggestions, I'll take them into account.
