As there is currently no other topic for this event i propose we use this as the H.Q.

As some of you may know this ia two day event on Aug 24th / 25th and feautres a huge array of bands and performers including to name a few... BB Blackdog, Abney Park, Professor Elemental, Gladstone, Broad Arrow Jack, Ghostfire Birthrite  and our own good selves The Dark Design...

So I suggest in absence of a better plan we use this thread as the go to source for info...

Here are some relevant bits from the book of face...

Greetings, sir, on behalf of Broadarrow Jack. It hadn't occurred to me that there wasn't a thread on here- good thinking!

I find myself quite irratonally excited by the very mention of the this fruity foliage... Is this normal?

I can also now visualise the apothecary style label for that one...

Ah it's Beer!

IIt's fine... you can talk about alcohol in the open these days...

It's Mandy and Charlie you have to talk about in hush tones these days...

Honestly the last Time I took them to a festival...

Well, they had a huge domestic and Mandy stormed off leaving poor charlie alone in our tent... which turned out alright because we also had Valerie there...

Ah it's Beer!

Not beer - its brandy, raspberry juice and sugar - think of the recipe as an 18th century alcopop ...

... only stronger  Shocked

a shrub is a traditional recipe, though it doesn't have to be raspberry.

Certainly not beer. Which is akin to dirty canal water and usually made from the same, as far as I can tell!

Is anybody able to shed any light on the news that Abney Park have pulled out?

Edit:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Abney-Park/312292093741

No Abney Park. And no refunds, as the festival is "still going ahead".

(and the promoters have not changed any advertising to let people know that the headline act, well, aren't. Those of us that have forked out £45 to see Abney Park are desperately clinging to the hope that this can be resolved.)

No official word as yet, other than Abney Park's information. I'm assuming this is because the organisers are trying to resolve this before they make a statement.

Looks like you were both bang on the nose...

Please see the original Facebook link for details but the nuts and bolts of it is that the Promoters are trying to honour the Abney Park Agreement and get them back on the bill...

They're currently just a few tickets short of funding Abney Park's aerostat fare, so the large-boned lady is yet to sing on this one. With or without AP there are some great bands on this bill and I'm really looking forward to it. Though fingers crossed the requisite number of tickets are shifted. I feel for the promoters, as this year has been an uphill battle for small festivals and they've gotten stuck in a Catch 22 with this one.

From what I understand, as AP are playing in London, at Scala, the night before it's the transport from London to Wales they can't afford. Which doesn't speak well of ticket sales.  But as AP have announced on their website they have cancelled and the promoters have said nothing and are still letting people buy tickets under the assumption that they will definitely be there, well that worries me.

The concern is that so many open field events have been cancelled this year because of the rain. August is supposed to be less precipitous, but so was July.....
