I found a model of the receiving end of a Baird Televisor in the rubbish at my work (Univ of Strathclyde) and could do with some help.

I mentioned it here:
http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9398.msg790600.html#msg790600

and the photos are:

General shot

which shows the essential Bairdian spiral of holes in the discs

Display case which tells me that this was made for the 1990 "Jam, socks and television" exhibition sponsored by British Telecom.

Key queries needing help:
1. I think this model is missing some bits - any ideas what?
2. I have only got the Receiver - so obviously I need the Transmitter too - are there any modern plans for such a model? I have seen the old ones in Popular Mechanics.
3. Has anyone made a model Televisor and can tell me how straightforward it might be?
4. Once you have the two bits, how do they interact and do you need a broadcasting licence?

Hm. That's kind of a strange arrangement.  There are two discs, which seem to be connected to different motors.  This may have been some standalone demo setup, one that just transmitted a fixed image to its own local receiver.

You don't seem to have the electronics, optics, or lamps.  Maybe those were reused for some other project.

There's a hobbyist group for this stuff.  See http://www.taswegian.com/NBTV/forum/ They're not tough to build.  The pictures are inherently dim, since only one pixel at a time is illuminated. (You can beat that; look up Scophony.)

You know, I think you are right and the museum folks are wrong. Looking at the terramedia link and  reading the end of the article leads me to think this is indeed a standalone job and that the lamps are indeed the missing bits. I need to read the articles more carefully.
