I have been wanting a flight jacket for years, preferably an A-2 jacket. I am willing to spend a lot of money, to the extent that I can pay, for one that is authentic. I've found plenty of cheap imitations and even some high quality but not authentic jackets. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a decent reproduction WWII era flight jacket? I would be willing to spend a fortune to get one, even if it is too warm to wear on a daily basis, which I would like to do.

I would think by authentic you meant one with bullet holes and blood spatter.

Okay, not quite that authentic. I mean one that is made to the original specifications and with the right materials. It would be nice if it could be pre-aged as well, though not to the extent that it would have bullet holes and blood splatter.

Thanks for the advice. Actually, my parents told me my grandfather used to have a jacket like that from when he was in the Air Force around the time of the Korean conflict when I asked them if I could buy an expensive jacket. I'll have to ask him if he still has it before I consider buying anything (he's pretty close to my size and he saves a lot of old items). He probably has gotten rid of it a long time ago, but its worth asking him.

Avirex and Cockpit USA come to mind. Wikipedia has a nice article on the A-2 Flight Jacket in which sources of reproductions are mentioned.

If given the time to look and a cautious eye to the seller's reputation or rating, Etsy or eBay are good sources for such items.

One suggestion, always carefully read whether an item is original or a reproduction to avoid any confusion or over-payment for less quality goods.

Good Hunting !
