I wear my goggles every time I have to chop onions or shallots... I'd be balling otherwise. They work great.

Well, congratulations! That is certainly something I would rather do than cut onions... OH. You meant "bawling", as in crying. That's different then. Carry on! Chas.

I wear my goggles when riding in open vehicles, like jeeps.
The Steam/Victorian habit of dressing in layers is supposed to be practical when the weather is unpredictable.

I used welding goggles as sunglasses long before I heard the word "Steampunk". I've since moved up to slightly fancier goggles.

I use my Æther disruptor to permanently close Gateways and Portals that the foolhardy attempt to open in order to contact the Elder Gods.

I have found that wearing goggles helps me to meet women. Very practical indeed. Even when I'm at the beach of my choice!

Please stop doing that, Lord Chthuga is stuck in the 40th subdimension and can't get home...

Well, if The Beast can be considered part of my Steampunk gear, then moving ten tons of something from point A to point B could be considered a practical use. I have used it to haul fencing gear (chain link, not foil and epee) and some firewood; and a whole bunch of stuff down from Maryland when we moved.
Cheers!
Chas.

I wear my victorian and edwardian suits, as > > > > clothes, don't you? Admittedly I dont wear them as suits every day, mainly because they can be overly warm, so then I leave the jackets off.

My normal, everyday flashlight is a wood and brass box lamp similar to this - http://www.wordcraft.net/flashlites/1899evereadybikelite.jpgA little simpler handle and the light is closer to the body of the box but you get the idea. Additionally, most of my hand tools are wood handled. They don't really match; but one day I may make them match.

I have a pair of goggles - vintage safety glasses with mesh side-shields, actually - that I had my prescription put into. Polycarbonate lens, slightly tinted. I wear them shooting, and I don't have to worry about lead fragments spalling off the targets any more.
Cheers!
Chas.
