Heh, you may want to disregard a comment I made on the thread with your lamp - I think these are fine examples of music devices that look their purpose... I commented before i read this thread... Nice work. SS

Very nice, although my first reaction to the first photo was, "Wouldn't the needle be hard on the touch-screen?"

Thank you one and all.
The big problem is going to be finding more horns to use. Yesterday went to an antique store and saw the identical horn I used with the torch player for $40. I had paid ten. I have been collecting horns for a year and have a few more that hopefully will become ipod gramophones.

Great work maets! I reckon there's a market there if you can keep your costs down. My colleague here at work was very impressed!

There does seem to be a reasonable supply of the torches. I spent yesterday hunting again for horns. This time I was somewhat successful. Found a small tuba, a trombone, and a trumpet at fair prices for their condition. These three will let me make some larger gramophones. Experimented with the tuba. GREAT sound with a battery powered speaker. Coming soon to a thread near you.

As promised. Completed a Gramophone based around a tuba. Its at http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,36249.0.htmlThese two and the bigger one use a battery powered speaker at the small end of the horn to create the sound which is then channelled and amplified by the horn.

My sales were WAY off before I had to take time off for a busted up hand. Hope we all see improvement. The new owner should be VREY proud of the torch gramophone.
