I think the brass goggles wiki is a great idea, albeit obviously lacking a lot of important information (ie, there is very little info about the short RPs). I would like to contribute to it myself. However, there are a few questions I would like to ask about this project.

Several people have added personas into the personas index which have no links to RPs. My assumption is that this means that the personas in question are unrelated to any of the RPs (please correct me if I am wrong). I am unsure as to whether or not this is permitted. I would guess that it isn't because if it was there would probably be hundreds of personas in that index (again, please correct me if I am wrong).

Do I need permission to add myself to the BG users index?

Can I submit drawings for the "Steampunk Archetype Fashion Guide" (which seems to be lacking in images for many of the archetypes), or are only actual photos permitted?

I don't believe we ever really discussed rules for the wiki, and Captain McCannon (the wiki janitor) seems to have disappeared.

The Personas page includes both RP and non-RP personæ. The sparsity of the index is more an indication of the fact that folks simply don't know about the wiki. You'll note that (for example) I am listed on both the Users (as von Corax) and Personas (as Prof. Darwin Prætorius von Corax) pages, but both links point to the same biography page.

To add yourself to the BG Users index, you do need permission, but only from yourself. Wink That is to say, don't add anyone else without their permission.

You're quite welcome to upload any drawings you want, provided you have permission to do so, and that they comply with BG's "Forbidden Topics" policies.

Also please note that the wiki is completely independent of Brass Goggles, and you must register there separately — your registration here does not automatically register you there. (You can edit anonymously, but as a courtesy we prefer that you don't.)

Part of the reason for the lack of Short RP's Info (there is some on there, but it's a bit sparse, which is mostly my fault, I admit) is a lack of time and a certain degree of fatigue.

If you want to add to the Short RP's part of the wiki, do so, but be very careful what you add or edit. Like Van Corax said, edit/add as a registered user, and don't just go in and change things willy-nilly (not that you would; I'm just saying).

Things needed:
1. a running summary of events so far in the storyline
2. up -to-date lists of characters, ships, locations, etc.
3. a glossary of terms and definitions created or mentioned in the storyline (such as RL or fictitious weaponry, devices, and other ephemera)

At least some of the apparently-unrelated-to-RPs personas actually are related to past or present sequels to previous RPs, and some are related to RPs that are not represented in the RP listings. There have been a few RPs that just petered out after a comparitively-early while (a common malady among Roleplays across the net, I've noticed), before anybody thought of adding them to the list, although some of their participants did add their personas in those RPs to the Personas list.

As Van Corax intimated, it's never (to my knowledge, at least) been specifically allowed, encouraged, or dis-couraged either.

I think Mr. Corax just gave it.

I would think that you ought to ask somebody (I've no idea whom) about the actual meanings of the un-illustrated postings, or make the drawing(s) and then ask for a second opinion as to whether they truly represent the archetype, just to be on the safe side. I could just be letting my social paranoia get the better of me, though.

Not a problem, my dear, as the wiki isn't actually on this site. It is a completely separate site (at http://editthis.info/brass_goggles/Main_Page) which was created by one of our members a few years ago.

As I mentioned above, it's a separate, unconnected site so you will need to register there. (You don't actually need to register; you can edit anonymously, but we consider it bad form.)

Anonymous editing is bad form — I assume that's what you were asking.

Signing up, on the other hand, is very much top form indeed!  Cool
