Look out folks,
I am arriving in San Francisco on the 8th of July and there until the 13th when I then travel to Denver, where I will be until the 18th when I travel to Buffalo for a brief visit until the 20th when I then travel to New York city to meet my wife there - where we will be until the 30th July.
So - if there was an opportunity to introduce myself to some American steampunk folk (particularly before New York) I would be most honoured.

Save travels.
Unfortunately, none of your stops are close to me.
Enjoy your visit.

900 miles away at your closest. It's a bit much for a day trip, but I'm sure someone here will realize they are a bit closer to one of your destinations soon enough.

Aye, New york is just outside of day-trip range... Now if you could add Washington DC to the itinerary...

I'm in Buffalo myself. Not much to see here though. Unless you count the falls.

I'm in Placerville, CA. We're about 90min away.(if you drive like a Californian!) Perhaps you'd like to visit the Gold Country, or our Wine Country? How about Lake Tahoe?

Thanks for the replies dear American folk.
I will be limited in my meanderings and basically stuck where I land each time, but kungfooey - a tour with a local native would be a fine thing to fit in

I'll plan for it. Is there any place in San Francisco you'd really like to go see?

Check out Fisherman's Wharf, and hope for some of the people who pose for pics with tourists. One time we saw someone wrapped in twigs and leaves impersonating a bush, and a living statue, as well as other oddities. Don't forget to visit at least one thrift store! I feel that I have wasted my time in an unfamiliar city if I haven't seen at least one thrift store...(and maybe more!)

Do you know, I was in the UK in February and I must have visited over twenty thrift stores looking for a tweed three piece suit? I think Herr Doktor must have been to every store in the country ahead of me!

I'm also finding myself in New York City this June and July. As a former resident I do know my way around the metropolis a bit and would be honored to meet the brilliant craftsman MadUncle.
*Edit* Also, on the topic of searching the thrift stores there are some great ones in New York City. Especially down in the Village! I've come across some marvelous finds while wandering its many streets.

I can confirm that about Herr Doktor, perhaps what we need is a clothing wants thread, so that members coming across something desperately wanted which doesn't fit them can alert the member. It may be the only way to scoop Herr Dok
