The passes have arrived from Crich. Details will be posted here in the next week or so. Once a couple of things are finalized.

Just keep/start sacrificing gifts to the appropriate weather deities. It will be a fab weekend.

Thank god i'm in a B & B.

Is it true that the Holiday in the UK adverts have been pulled and replaced with a Public Information Film warning about the dangers of trench foot and Vitamin D deficiency?

If our prayers are insufficient is this type of umbrella passable?  Mine is black rather than white. Will have to find something to cover up the plastic part of the handle.

I have an ivory umbrella similar to that with a black plastic handle, and had it with me at Crich last year as well as Lincoln the other weekend without any modification.

Shouldn't this be on parasols rather than umbrella's?

I'm having a little panic about whether my outfit is Edwardian enough since I've never tried to do proper Edwardian before.

click the spoiler to see the rather unflattering photo

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I have a half-wig so will have enough hair to put up properly and a couple of shawls if its not warm enough.

We're being quietly persuaded to turn up to this one by certain members of the Lincoln Steampunk community! Might be able to make the sunday- depends on various factors (including cash...) Captain Hieronymous Bartholomew doesn't "do" camping. (brings back too many painful memories of expeditions to darkest Peru, I believe) so I think a saturday night into sunday would be a step too far... a shame, as it would be nice to see BB Black Dog again!
We'll be bringing cameras, of course! Does that make us "Press" ?!

By the way, does anyone know why my profile photo won't upload?

Given that Tewkesbury is looking like it may be shortly twinned with Atlantis, I may be compelled to eschew the medieval battlefield and have a visit!

I'm in Lincoln so definitely daytrippable.

Yeah, screw the outdoor medieval events. We're nice and at Crich there is cover and a nice period pub that sells hand pulled ales straight from the barrel and trams and dressing up and suffragettes and soldiers in kilts who are very good at taking the pith and trams and... ermmm... stuff!

What would be the drill should myself or any of my Tewkesbury abandoning homies (all able to get proper Edwardian kit) are able to attend? At this late hour would we be attending as members of the public (not a problem, we understand it's late in the day) or could we join the event as participants? I think that most would daytrip so camping space and/or accommodation wouldn't be required.

I can't say who (if anyone) is attending as of this moment as there is much dithering going on about whether people are going to brave the floods or do something a lot more civilised! Sorry for being so vague, am trying to wring something definite from potential attendees. Thanks so much for even entertaining the idea of us!

Miss Malmesbury,

At this late stage I do not have any extra passes left, but if you were to attend in costume you would be most welcome to join in. I have no idea on the timing of the events but we will be in camp or down in the Village. There is usually a couple of Suffragette meeting and a demonstration. The ladies of the 3rd will be taking part in these, as well as some singing of Suffragette songs. We will have some spare song sheets and I will have some sashes as usual.

Its a shame that there were so many events clashing on this weekend , and that the weather is making some events not able to go ahead.

Crich will go ahead as the village is not in a muddy field, but our camp maybe.

Hope to see some of you there.

Lady Elsie.

Oh, that's jolly good (regarding the songsheets)!  I tried finding out about Suffragette songs, but there were so many that I had no idea what tune they were sung to.  I'm glad there;'s sashes as I did buy some ribbon in suitable colours, but alas, haven't done anything with them, and no time to at the moment (am in the early stages of a house move).  I think if summmers as wet as this become the norm, my next tent might actually be a survival dinghy, so that at least if it floods whilst I'm asleep I shan't get wet. Lost at sea, possibly, but not wet!

Dear Lady Elsie

Thanks so much for letting us join in should we be marooned!  It is such a shame that this event clashed with so many other things in the calendar as I think that most of our group would have signed up immediately to come along had we not already committed to attend (the rapidly sinking) Tewkesbury.  I love the idea of participating in a suffragette demonstration  Grin

Thanks again and if we don't manage to get to you, have a great (and dry) weekend.

Alas the Countess and I are also not going to be able to make it. It was all very touch and go from the offset (what with  the car problem...we still don't have a new vehicle of our own) and now extra financial burdens have manifested themselves so I'm afraid this is another 3F&M event we won't be able to join in. Sorry... Sad Have a great time all of you! Stand Firm the 3rd!
