I'm not sure which camp I'm in because I just said "have a bell tent like yours although nothing authentic to go inside it" and rather left it up to you which list to put me on.
On the one hand if the food is in the period camp having my tent there would provide extra shelter if things get a little damp in the evening and it would just have to be completely shut up during the day to hide the non-authentic contents.
on the other hand I noticed in the Lincoln photos that all the tent pegs were painted orange for safety and mine aren't - don't know if that's an issue. This is my bell tent's first outing - it has not been outside its canvas bag yet!

The orange tent pegs at Lincoln were supplied by the castle, as they didn't trust us to have the 'correct length' pegs to avoid damaging the sub-soil archaeology. They weren't painted for safety, good idea though.

Ma Pip,
If your tent is of the canvas kind you are welcome to pitch in the period camp. There will be plenty of ladies about so an unaccompanied lady such as yourself,f will be chaperoned. After all there will be soldiers about.

Ms Pip
We also have tent without authentic interior. The general rule is to keep it closed when the public are around.
Hope This Helps
Nearly time to go :-)

I arrived yesterday and when I went to the campsite, nobody was there. There were only half a dozen F&M pith helmets resting gently on the mud. What happened to everyone?
My B& B is splendid by the way, lovely soft warm bed, central heating, beautiful cooked breakfast, en suite toilet and a nice hot shower .

Back from my daytrip to Crich, What a lovely place, I can't believe I hadn't been before. As a visiting member of the public I must say that I had a lovely time, everyone looked marvellous and the music hall singalong was brill. Lady Elsie, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you; I'm afraid that in the end we were unable to take you up on your kind offer of joining you at the camp as by the time we had finished playing at trams I had to dash back to Lincoln as my poor dog was having to cross her legs! We have said that if our group is not committed to other events next year we would love to get some good Edwardian togs together and join in the fun if you'll have us. I have just spoken to my other half and he has told me that the Lancastrian camp at Tewkesbury is flooded so I could not have been more glad than to be at Crich today! I think that I may have been on the same tram at Peter Harrow at one point, and I think I recognised some faces from Lincoln but shyness got the better of me. I was the person walking round beaming like an idiot whilst wearing a bowler hat and goggles. Thankyou for a splendid day, hope it goes well for the rest of the weekend. Miss C (Carrie)

Thanks to all who were involved in a truly enjoyable day. Those Suffragettes can be darned annoying, but thankfully, the 3rd F&M saved the day! Our only regret was that Jane and I could only attend the one day. Hopefully the following link will take you to some photo's of the day. I would just like to say that I had a simply splendid time at Crich, thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Suffragette re-enactment, and running around (metaphorically - floor length skirts precluded actual running!) like an excitable twelve-year old cooing at the parrots and owls, petting the adorable nine-year old shire horse named Joseph that pulled a horse-drawn tram for short rides, visiting the museum, and the little shops. The strawberry ice-cream was heavenly! And the cafe serves a mean pot of tea and excellent scones!. The view across the valley on the electric tram up to the quarry was simply stunning. The gentlemen of the 3rd Foot & Mouth were superb playing their part in the Suffragette re-enactment, and, as ever, both charming and very funny when off-duty. I am also in awe at the sheer amount of chilli-con-carne that the 3rd's field kitchen can provide - and the rapidity which which it can be made to disappear!
Rain very nearly put a stop to the event before it had started, due to its turning the campsite into a quagmire - but thank goodness it didn't succeed, that alternative accommodation was found, and that even the weather cooperated and was on pretty good, if not best, behaviour on both Saturday and Sunday! I can.t really pick out any highlights, as it was all highlights, for me! A superb weekend!

Hello all!
We had a great time at Crich. A big thank you to John and Karen for all their hard work - as ever.
A particular highlight was the impromptu tea-dance at the band stand.
Esme and Peter - we didn't manage to see you to say goodbye. It was great to see you and I hope you had safe journey's to your respective homes.

Thank you, got home fine. The cab down to the Whatstandwell station is only £6.00, and turned up on time, so well worth remembering in future.

Ooh, I'm glad you reminded me - apologies, but I ditzed a bit about when i had to be where for my journey home, after losing track of the time a bit after the picnic. Suffice to say that by the time I realised I had to get a move on, I didnl't have time to go find everyone to say goodbye to them, lest I miss my train. My journey home was uneventful, aside from, unfortunately, losing my nice chinese-style top out of my bag somehwere along the way. I'm checking with Lost Property, but dont; hold out much hope of seeing it again. Ah well, these things happen. I'm still grinning from the fun I had at the weekend though! Esme x
