So I've been taking a break from Fritz for a while to focus on my dieselpunk/ pulp adventurer archaeologist persona for a while (he is now officially a second persona). I want there to be a plane that he and the other characters I came up with for this universe can fly around to exotic locations in. The aircraft should be civilian, although it may be lightly armed with some kind of ad-hoc weaponry (mostly necessary because I love aerial dogfight scenes and sky pirates and other threats do exist in this world, although I am finding it very difficult to justify as no matter what kind of trouble the characters get into it seems unnecessary and unrealistic for any civilian aircraft). The aircraft should preferably be a large transport plane with room for lots of equipment. Unusual and implausible looks are mandatory. I want to use a real-life plane but there are so many cool aircraft from the 1920s-1940s that I cannot decide what to use. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

whose beak can hold more than it's belly can?...  Most of the planes IIRC in that era were named after people, like relatives, or for some good ideas, look up 'nose art' during WWII, for some ideas there. |

My character has supposedly spent a significant amount of time in the Middle East (especially the Levant), perhaps an airplane name evoking that might work.
