The Guild of The Unheard Voices
« on: April 25, 2012, 09:58:06 pm »
For those who just can't seem, or in that matter, don't want to be seen. Anyone who applies in the comments can most certainly join. You can also e-mail me if you are too shy to be seen on the comments.
See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
On his shell he holds the earth.
If you want to run and play,
Walk along the BEAM today!

On several occasions I have accidentally snuck up on people from in front, and on one occasion an oriole landed on me and then stared at me as if to say "Where the hell did you come from?" Is that the sort of thing you have in mind?

(What can I say — it takes a lot of practice to be invisible.)

My hands acquire a shaking
The shaking becomes a warning

That is a great example of what I am talking about. This guild is for the shadows, the people who are barely ever noticed. The unheard voices.

I have sneaked up on people so often without intending to, it`s amazing.

Same goes for online though - people often seem to miss things I post (or they just don`t care because I`m boring, I don`t know)
Sometimes I vlog: www.youtube.com/realkojitmal
(I even once did a steampunk related video!)

There`s a blog too: http://kojitmal.wordpress.com

Because threads are effectively a conversation in slow motion I think there is a tendancy to use body language as we would in person even though we are not visible.  I may see a comment and nod in agreement or chuckle but not write in the nod/chuckle when i respond with my own comment.  I have not missed or ignored the previous comment i have merely forgotten that my response needs to be verbal and typed in order to register.
One does feel a little silly constantly using smilies or typing in "nods" every time as it feels artificial.

Sorry, did you say something? ;)

I'm fairly unheard, mostly through choice than some quasi-magical ability to fade into the background (or foreground, as necessary).

I am glad to see so many friendly members. Honestly, I didn't think anyone would want to join. Especially someone as popular and awesome as you, Augustus.

I'm usually so quiet as to be invisible, & can leave the room without anyone knowing I've gone - is this a knack, or am I really just not in the same world??

It's something that usually takes a fair bit of practice. Sir William Stephenson had people teaching it at Camp X.

It's something I've always been able to do! Must have been that invisibility ray when I was a little tacker!

Thanks for passing it on, it has been invaluable. It can be very useful to be able to enter or leave a group without anyone noticing. And committee meetings end up being rather sneaky as my suggestions are never heard when I make them. When they are then suggested by someone else, and taken up by the group, it creates a strangely selfless sense of superiority.

Though the most useful aspect is the ability, on reaching my alcohol limit, to teleport unnoticed straight to my bed, regardless of how many miles away it is.
I speak in syllabubbles. They rise to the surface by the force of levity and pop out of my mouth unneeded and unheeded.

Funny story, I had to wear a bell 'round the 'Ouse. For bout two weeks, cause I kept givin' my mum heart attacks.
There is a reason for this. And trust me, when a bunch of harry potter geeks think your fucking retarded, you know there is something wrong.

Oh...my old war wound? I got that at The Battle of Dorking. Very nasty affair that was, I can tell you.
