Once again, Voltin has displayed a remarkable talent for finding the worst of the Steampunk trade. This is the third time that he has picked a winner!
It was a damn close thing between the t-shirt and the hidious head gear

Here's something to chew on.
These folks post objects that we all know are not Steampunk; And so, we post them here and make fun of them.
Meanwhile, I've seen a couple of users here say something to the effect of 'that's not steampunk, but it's nice'.
So let's say one of those people buys the object.
Was the advertising successful as they pitched it to Steampunks and a Steampunk purchased it?

That folder/envelope/whatever is ridiculous! Here's my contribution for this week, a few "professionally airbrushed" X-Box 360 cases: Big Skull, Steam Punk Theme, Carbon Fiber, Xbox 360 Case I see two gears spray painted on there, so at least this shows the artist is at least familiar with the concept... Red Xbox 360 Case Custom Airbrushed skulls, lightening, SteamPunk I'm not sure what is "steampunk" about this one, the skulls or the "lightening." Blue Xbox 360 Case Custom Airbrushed skulls, lightening, SteamPunk The same story here, except this time he threw in some cobras and the moon for good measure.

I thought you were joking about the shipping.... If there are people stupid enough to buy these things ( any of them ) I need to quit my job and stay home and open an Etsy store.....

I figure they make the shipping cost high and the price low because Etsy takes a cut of the price, but they do not take a cut of the shipping.

that seems to be glaringly obvious that they are doing it.... Etsy is not going to let that continue forever .... AND its a piece of junk.

Cute, but not steamy Steampunk Fairy Door Locket - Steampunk Fairy Door Necklace This, is adorable. I love fairies AND steampunk, and even though this only fits into one of those categories, I may well have to take that home! I submit for your viewing displeasure: http://www.etsy.com/listing/42867571/pink-mum-ring P.S. http://www.regretsy.com/category/not-remotely-steampunk/

The bear would be cool, if not for the random gears on it! Maybe not "steampunk" in and of itself, but I can see the relation between steampunk and the Golden Compass (and therefore armored bears). However, putting gears on it completely ruins it for me.
I'm pretty sure I posted that apple necklace at some point (or at least ran across it)... Apparently mostly-eaten apples are just really steampunk!

I think the apple is adorable. I wouldn't wear it as part of a steampunk ensemble, but I would certainly find other contemporary occasions to wear it, if given the opportunity.

I back tracked through the thread and discovered that it was indeed posted before. It was Herbert West's contribution to Week Four. Feel free to disregard it in that case. Terribly sorry everyone, the consequences of insufficient research.

In regards to the armored bear, (missed it? click this:) One can make a pretty solid argument that "His Dark Materials" series is indeed Steampunk. Fantasy Steampunk to be sure, but still a flavor of steampunk. Perhaps the first thing in this thread that I'd defend. Now that being said, this looks like crap and is poorly made. However the subject could, actually be Steampunk.

In all honesty, I think the bear looks pretty good. What I really don't get though is why they felt it necessary to stick a couple of random gears on it. It really just takes away from the finished piece. Oh. Oh wow. Sweet Tesla they're not even trying anymore. Can't even use it as a keyboard anymore. What are you supposed to do with it? Display it?

I would have thought it a "His Dark Materials" reference, but apart from that it is not terribly steampunk. But as a toy it looks pretty good, in my opinion.

I am not a Golden Compass fan but the bear is hand felted. It amazes me that someone took a ball of fluff and a needle and this was the result. (I am ignoring the cog.)

I have been away for awhile on vacation in the wilderness and missed that I won for the third time. I want to apoligize for messing things up a bit. Just waiting on a response from Mr. Addams as what I shall to do next. Looks like I may have my hands full with several dreadful items to choose from.

Well, at least it is a top-hat, and with a bit of work, starting with the removal of the "Dollar-store" ribbons, fluff and aforementioned bear, we could do something. By the way, every time someone uses the word "Cog" when they mean "Gear" or "Sprocket", Cthulhu kills a kitten
