Alrighty. I need some help choosing my first project.

Option 1: Steampunk M4 Carbine - I have an airsoft M4 carbine that I could modify (it's junk anyways) to look more steampunk-ish. Suggestions on what could be done with it can be taken later.

Option 2: Steampunk Nerf Maverick - A little cliche, I know, but some really cool stuff has been done with them, and I think that I could do something neat.

Option 3: Steampunk M1911 - Same idea as the M4 carbine, but it's a 1911 pistol. That said, it may be easier to work with than the M4.

Option 4: Opera Glasses Magnifier - A pair of old antique opera glasses that I think would make a wonderful little item for my first costume.

Option 5: Armor for left arm - Just a set of upper arm, lower arm, elbow, and a pauldron. It will have a watch face on it then.

Option 6: Slave bracelet - made from a bike chain, copper wire, and some LEDs. Thoughts anybody?

I'd love to know everybody's ideas, thoughts, opinions, etc., as well as if you think there is a somewhat smaller project you might think to be easier for me to do as a first project.

Sleeve is my choice. Just because it is on my list of things to make sooner rather than later.

A gun is all very well but just sometimes you need a decent blast shielded power arm. Also for sheer costume value, nothing says "that's a steampunk costume" more then a section of your body covered in segmented brass plates covered in gears.

Although I am likely biased by the works of Spaceclown due to my mind having been successfully blown.

In addition an arm is a good start for the rest of the body but can also be something left on its own if time and/or money runs out.

actually, being on a really tight budget, I'm planning to make the armor from cardboard, and it'll just be on my arm. The gun is more or less going up on my wall, because it's junk and if it doesn't get used for anything it's going in the trash.

Forget any firearm built after 1914 that's the cut off here on the forum....... look to the earlier models or build something from scratch or nerf...... look at the gun thread for ideas..... lots of good stuff there.....
