I'll post up a picture a little later on, but I recently picked up a pair of old opera glasses at an antique store. I'd love to make like a little magnifier glasses thing that I can put down over my eyes, but I'm not sure how to. Any thoughts or ideas?

Depends what sort they are. Best thing is to post a piccie. Failing that, could you provide a link to a similar-looking pair?

So - you could manufacture some sort of bracket on your hat with a hinged arm that lowers them in front of your face. Is that the kind of thing you're thinking of?

so like these i would greatly recomend having them clip onto your hat rather than your glasses because something like that will weigh your glasses down tremendously and become uncomfortable after a while

You have a choice between "lower down from above face" and "swivel in from the side" or a combination of the two.
I've seen several variations on these themes and they all have their pluses and minuses.

I like the "swivel down from the side on the end of a telescoping rod" idea, like the targeting 'scope in Luke Skywalker's X-wing.

I would say that if you wanted to fasten something that bulky and heavy to your head the way would be three leather straps. Two for each side of the head, they could go along below the ears and hook below the ridge that defines the scalp and the spine, then the third to go over the top of the head.

'Not enough' and 'dapper' is tautological in my opinion.

Is there a tut for making a bracket arm? For those of us who need to force our brain into the practical?
