I think the Autumn & Winter thread can be put to bed now.... except for if it snows next week.

Let's see, what do we have planned until, say, September?

A few events straight off the bat, as it were, are:

-Severn Valley Railway 150 celebrations in May (weekend of May 19/20- I've been invited to go on the 19th by an old friend from Uni and a group of his Chap friends, if anyone wants to informally 'just happen' to be there)

-Waltz on the Wye, that same weekend

-Jubilee picnic in Worcester, June 4 Bank Holiday

I'm sure there are more events floating about out there....

Thanks for this, James.

I've been trying to compile a list of events either in the West Midlands or attracting the attention of members of the WMSA and putting them into chronological order. So far (and with the addition of the above), it looks something like this:

9th April, Easter Monday: Giant (and I mean giant) flea market, Malvern:
 http://www.edinburghantiquesfair.co.uk/malvern_flea.html

14th April: Professor Elemental & Burlesque @ the Elecro-Swing Circus, Birmingham:
 http://hareandhoundskingsheath.co.uk/2012/03/29/hot-club-de-swing-burlesque-take-over-with-professor-elemental/

[Avoncroft removed, they're not having a Victorian weekend after all.]

To be continued...

That's quite the list Jen  Smiley

Work are playing coy about the Easter Monday, but if I do have it as holiday (and assuming the awful white cold stuff from the sky stays away) I'll probably be able to make it to Malvern, trains dependant of course.

I'd love to go to Royal Ascot some year, but I suspect won't be able to justify teh expense this year.

Just a quick note to say that the three of us that managed to get to the Great Malvern Flea Market had a fun day despite the weather, and reduced in size though it was, it still took quite a while to get around to see everything.  Well worth going to, if you haven't been to one before!

Just spotted, the URL for the event Professor Elemental is at tomorrow has changed to
http://hareandhoundskingsheath.co.uk/2012/03/29/burlesque-take-over-with-professor-elemental/

Out of curiosity, who (if any) are thinking of going along to this one? I'm indecisive about it at the moment, but if there's a reasonable gathering of us, that could well swing it for me.

~ Sunday 6th May is the Worcester flea, plus the May Day celebrations in the Winter Gardens in Malvern.

~ 18-20th May: There also appears to be a handful of us in attendance at the Waltz on the Wye, so be sure to make yourself known if you are there!

~ 25-27th May: the Gaming Expo in Birmingham:
http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/

~ Sunday 27th May:the next Malvern flea market.

Come on, people, wake up! Anyone fancy a punknic somewhere in Birmingham one weekend soonish when the weather's reasonable?  Or alternatively, a meal at the Victorian Restaurant in the Great Western Arcade  near Colmore Row?    A walk along the canal from, say the city Centre or University to Bournville? Or perhaps a day out in Lichfield or Great Malvern - both are quite easy to get to by train from Birmingham, are interesting to mooch around, and I'm sure that at either if the weathers's not good enough for a punknic we could find plenty of places as which tea, cake or alcoholic refreshments are available.  Anyone?

Agreed we need to sort some events out...myself and Sara were talking today about how it was a pity that the Severn Valley's Victorian weekend clashed with the Waltz on the Wye (we agreed that the SVR would make a pretty good location for an event too....)

I'd also like to do *something* to celebrate my graduation in June.... I did suggest a trip to Ascot on the 23rd, but there's been little response to that idea.  An alternative might be a trip up the Severn Valley on a steam train....

I could possibly do the steam train if, it departs from somewhere I can actually get to without a car since I cannot drive .

Good question.  Couple of good picnic spots come to mind in Bridgenorth- either the castle grounds (around the cliff) or down by the river.  I'm thinking my picnic hamper needs to earn its keep  Cheesy
