Oh...my old war wound? I got that at The Battle of Dorking. Very nasty affair that was, I can tell you.

Gibson's Bakery 1885.

And not only a historical food shop, but a controversial one at that!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson%27s_Bakery_v._Oberlin_College

Gibson's Bakery is one of those fringe cases where they are legitimately Victorian, like Café du Monde, and El Globo Bakery, yet the question remains, if their products today are the same as they did back then. I need a bit more info. On the surface it seems to be the direct equivalent of El Globo, even though this is not a large city, but a small college town. The difference is that El Globo and Café du Monde are selling their products nationwide at regular supermarkets. The latter is not an absolute requirement, but it helps.

I'll have to think about this one. Tentatively I'd say yes, but it's a bakery to which only a few thousand people in Oberlin, Ohio have access...

Yep, I did wonder about mentioning the court case.

There was one in NY (Bowery St.) 1901.

Sorry, I ammended my response to address your implied question better. That case is a mess and it's very recent. The shop is a single shop (not a chain) and in a small Ohio town... I need to read more info on it. 44 million for a settlement is a lot of money for that shop and seems like Oberlin, Ohio is a small town infected by the national politics.

Good one Wells.

How goes it, Uncle Bert? Haven't heard from you in a while... It's going to be difficult for me to gather product names from the supermarkets now, I'm afraid.

Given the current events, I thought it'd be appropriately macabre to post this 1920s cure-all from Mexico. Thankfully this is not something we can add to the list.

I may be eating my bottle of 1895 Garton's HP sauce when all the other food has run out.

I do have some additional items for the UK and Empire list but they'll have to wait, I am working on a project.

FYI - My local supermarket in Norfolk UK is full to the brim with food &c as if nothing untoward had occurred.

Not so much of the illogical panic here at least.
