A feeling that I second, however for the moment only meet-ups in the London vicinity are possible for me...

Hmf. I, too, am interested in a midlands 'meet'...if only as an excuse to parade my more extreme clothing styles...

I think some meet up should be organised...
So it's down to when & where.
Where: got to be related to the genre (oh duh!!) Do you want to pick an existing event (steam rally etc) or organise our own event.
When: with xmas fast approaching should it be considered for this year? Next year give more time for prep...

We should plan a meet-up as I will be visiting theredmax over Halloween... Anytime between 30 Oct and 13 Nov I'm in the UK, so we should do it! It would be a sort of international goodwill steampunk tour!

I'd like to nominate somewhere in the Midlands, as London is a bit of a jaunt for me, even if the trains are working and the Tube isn't on strike. I will make best efforts to get to any Midland-based meet proposed!

well I can do weekends and possibly wednesdays.  I don't mind organising stuff. I'll have a nose around and see if there is anything coming up anywhere.

It's a long shot but how about the seaside? I know it'll be off season but coastal towns seem to have very victorian atmospheres,  and the piers are good for the ozone. Beside off season is better for enjoying fish and chips.

So...
We've got the date window...
30th Oct to 13th Nov

The weekends falling in that period are:
Nov 03-04 & 10-11

The Midlands or a Seaside town...

Well up for a Midlands meet, maybe hire a pub room and have an evening of ale and steam?

Can i ask if it could be on a train route. If it's possible i'll be coming down from lancashire and the less time spent on trains the more time i can drink/dance/throw buns Smiley

and a day event would be wonderful so i can get the last train back

i hope there is a steam fayre or somesuch, though i have my doubts in november :/

there, i have now made it virtually impossible to organise anything. my work here is done Wink seriously though, ignore me if it wont work any other way, for the greater good and all, what what!

sorry I've no bus available, but I find that auto-mobile racing makes novel spectators sport, & if anyone should be so inclined as to go on an excursion I feel that it might be a fine opportunity to meet up.

If there is a meeting in the midlands I doubt my ability to attend butwish you the best of luck & hope that it is most enjoyable!

The Electric Railway...
The London to Brighton run..
Trains available... (don't even think of driving there!)
Piers..
Naked people laying about on the beach...

it occurs to me that both bristol and london have possibilities for me as i have friends there who would suffer my presence for a night or two (if bribed with drink). and this anywhere within travelling radius is possible too.

Thou the idea of naked people lounging round on the beach may be a little too shocking for someone as proper as I

Ive wanted a reason to go to brighton for a while & coach fares are not as extortionate as the train (provided one is capable at getting up rather early to catch it)

Brighton? what happened to the Midlands? as much as I like Brighton and would love to go sometime, the idea of meeting up in the Midlands would be top of my list.

I'm off to university soonish, and so this greatly increases my abilities to travel wherever I want, assuming it dodges lectures. I wait and watch with baited breath, and may strike at ANY TIME.

yeah I have Uni classes too, so I'm angling for a weekend meet too.

Well Brighton is Doable for me, although it would be best if it were a whole weekend.

I'm not sure what there is to attract Steapunks to the midlands, so people please inspire me, all I can thin of is Green's Windmill and the Pit and Pendulum in Nottingham. Could be a civilised day trip ?

Grand idea! Now if only the Pitty Patt Burlesque Club wasn't on Tuesdays, it would be well worth a Nottingham weekend!

The Pit is a wonderful venue.
