It is not often that an advert on facebook gets my attention, however this one caught my eye.

Abundius C Plunkett's Pellucid Aether Cola

A clear, caffinated drink in an interesting tin.

This is the product of an English company. Perhaps a little pricy at just over £2 per can, but still worth checking out.

If they were after the Brass Pound, maybe, but the brass two pounds? I shall probably try it once, then go back to my beloved ASDA 20p lemonade and squash, lol

i am inclined to agree with you. They need to bring the price down a lot to get regular buyers, especially if you look at the ingredients.

I had considered trying a can, but now I've looked at the ingredients I won't bother! It seems to be almost entirely E numbers...

Looks lovely in those beautiful cans, but I suspect my body wouldn't be too happy with me for drinking it!

Carbonated Water, Flavouring, Caffeine and E numbers?  I'm guessing the £2 is mostly for the packaging then.

Ah my mistake, my ASDA lemonade is 18p for £2 litres *grin*

It's a shame that the nearest stockist to me is in Birmingham, because I wouldn't mind trying this.

I saw this also, thought it looked interesting but the high price and low quality of ingredients is off-putting.
I'll stick with my "Fentimans Botanically Brewed Cola" for now Wink

That cola looks a lot like the liquid equivalent of "glue some gears on it".
Fentimans on the other hand... hmm... I LOVE their Victorian Lemonade!  Smiley

At roughly $3.17 USD per . I think I shall pass. Or at least require that a monkey butler be included to serve the beverage!

This is the most interesting site of the designer of this cola can http://www.johncoulthart.com/feuilleton/

He has also done other Steampunk related work. Smiley

It's a terrible pity Moxie isn't more widely distributed. Two 2 liter bottles cost about what they charge for a can of Æther Cola, it has a formula unchanged since 1884, a unique and interesting flavor, and if this fellow isn't an up and coming young Mad Scientist, what is he?

And yes, the term "Moxie" for vigor and elan comes from this drink.

I couldn't drink it, Moxie sounds like a *ahem* social disease.

Wise decision, "I got squiffy on Moxie!" sounds just plain wrong!

I haven't had a Moxie in decades. Not available here in the Midwest. I liked it a whole lot back when I was on the East Coast for a bit.

(Slight posting misadventure later, I bring you a question!)

I was wondering if any one had ever gotten the chance to try Aether Cola?
We had a case of 24 in the shop a while back, which we sold at £2 per can (a 5p discount on RRP. How generous we are).

I got some...definate feed back regarding it, and we won't be stocking it again I suspect, but wanted to see what others felt about it? In packaging, promotion and taste?

I finally tried a can at MCM earlier this year.
To be totally honest I was disappointed. the taste was nothing special, the novelty of a clear cola, which was the main selling point on the website, was lost by selling it in a can, and in my opinion the price was excessive. (Though I did get a poster too  Smiley)
If you have experience of retailing Aether Cola, you probably know how well it sells at that price, but I suspect that it would be one of those things that you try once, then never return to.
About the only thing it has going for it is the flash looking can.

I rarely drink colas anyhow, but Fentiman's is widely available, looks nice and tastes ok.

100% with you, to be honest, Mr. Addams.

The quirk was certainly that it's clear. Which it is. The fact the can (with it's lovely art) is opaque is quite the novel design idea.
We got complaints about the artificial after taste, and in my opinion it'd've worked better as a lemonade. I won't comment, as a former stockist, too much on the price, but I'd say that our customers felt more went into the art than the drink.

I wasn't sure whether to consider it a bit of a band-wagon item.

All in all, it sold one per customer, mostly for the can's design. It led to an interesting sales technique of my colleague and I trying to stay very straight faced until the purchase was made, and promoting the can as a novelty souveniere!

Not familiar with Fentimans, incidentally though

I thought they were fairly widely available. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fentimans and http://www.fentimans.com/
Their pink lemonade is pretty too.
