Don't know where we could find such biscuits on these savage shores, guv'nor. Could we use cookies instead?

American style 'cookies' in my experience are:

1.Too big to dunk in a normal cup

and

2. Quite soft and moist to start with.

And delicious.....you forgot 3.delicious

Sounds fun! Does anyone know if they'll be doing this at the Steampunk World's Fair?

Hello all,

The American Tea Duelling Society has two planned matches upcoming at S.T.E.A.MFest in Atlanta in April and Steampunk Empire Symposium, also in April.

Other matches are being negotiated and scheduled.

An alternative American bisquit is being researched and will be settled and announced previous to the S.T.E.A.MFest tourney.

If any of you are able to attend either event please join in!

Regarding a source of Digestives in the US: my friend and I found these at a local Giant Eagle Market District. I'm not certain how widespread their shops are (they're everywhere around here!), but their international section is really quite good.

Isnt it funny how mundane things in one country are hard to find exotics elsewhere? We really take our homeland food so much for granted.

I lived in Cyprus for several years (on UK military base) and it was considered absolutely essential that we should all have easy access to familiar UK food via the NAAFI supermarkets, but of course that costs extra due to the shipping costs so every service person got a really generous extra allowance to enable them to buy all that stuff. And this in a country with the most amazing fresh food available everywhere.

So it's every hand to his rope or gun, quick's the word and sharp's the action. After all... Surprise is on our side.

I suppose there can't be "American Rules" where we can use chocolate chip cookies or biscotti? ^^ Yeah biscotti are Italian, but they're good in tea and we appropriate other people's stuff all the time anyways...

I was going to suggest looking at Mexican biscuits (cookies) in American supermarkets, as they have become quite commonly available in the last 10 years. No longer in the "International" section, some supermarkets are now offering them side by side with the standard fare at a comparable price.

There are several companies which could offer dryer, smaller more compact biscuit style pastries; to mind comes Gamesa, a subsidiary of Pepsi Co. in that country (not to be confused with the Wind Energy corp/ from Spain). Unfortunately for Gamesa specifically, it looks like their repertoire is now a copycatted menu from the American cookie manufacturers (Nabisco - a subsidiary of Kraft Foods).  But there are other manufacturers...

Major progress and enthusiasm for American Tea Duelling!

An American standard bisquit has been found. The Pepperidge Farm Chessman cookie has been used successfully in several US based duels and is widely available.

I just hosted the first official tournament of The American Tea Duelling Society at S.T.E.A.M.Fest in Atlanta. While I am nowhere the expert Tiffin Master that TimeTimetinker is, I think I did OK and certainly got lots of people excited and interested in the sport of tea duelling. Additionally, Dale of BB Black Dog hosted tea duelling tournaments at two American events where BB Black Dog was on the roster with similar success and excitement.

I have a tournament scheduled this weekend at Steampunk Empire Symposium and there are additional tournaments upcoming.
