I am in utter awe of your talent and dedication. I know how difficult it can be to create such a large themed area as I am currently doing the same to my car...lol

But that is as far as it goes................... To be fair she did give up 20 inches of her space so I could put my model shelves outside of the room. Bless her heart. |

Hello all: One of our forum members ( Maets) found a very cool light in a flea market. He purchased it and sent it to me as a gift. It will go perfectly in my work shop. Thank you so much Maets !!! This light has a 12 volt lamp inside and a red lens cover. I want to install a bright light inside that will turn on and blink on and off using a motion detector.  I'm not exactly sure where I'll mount it. Here I temporarily hung it on the wall.  Thank you Maets !!!!!!!!!!! |

That looks almost exactly like the red lights used on US submarines during weapons loading evolutions....they indicate that deck plates in the vicinity have been removed, so there's a fall hazard. Very authentic......and brings back tedious, unpleasant memories of many, many loading and unloading evolutions over the past 6 years.

When I saw the piece at the flea market I knew where it belonged. Glad to make a very minor contribution. Kind of like a drop in the ocean.
I am positive it is from a naval vessel of some sort and quite possibly a submarine. It was covered in grey paint when I got it, glass and all.
Smooth sailing to the Captain and crew.

Well Maets, having painted many a submarine passageway during my naval career, I can say without a doubt that the entire thing being covered in grey paint definitely conforms to official US Navy painting techniques.

Yes, I remember my time in the Navy and painting EVERYTHING grey. And, when you give a new recruit a paint brush and tell him to paint everything, he will paint the red lens of a light along with everything else.  |

This got sent to me today and this thread was my first though. I like the Beatles down the side of the 'Yellow Tub-marine' (see what I did there?) but the rest is a bit too much for me. I'd have stuck with the Yellow Submarine theme and had the walls painted either like Pepperland or the Sea of Monsters..with a Blue Meanie lurking in a corner somewhere.. |
