Oh  boy a surprise!

Thanks for the video! Mighty fine works, Captain sir. With a room like this for inspiration, you are going to make some amazing things! Well done!

Also, love the new pressure gauge.

A few months back I found these at a thrift store.  They are solid brass.  I'm not sure what they were used for, but when I saw them I knew I had to somehow use them in my room.

I mounted the four hollow sleeves over some PVC pipe.  Then I connected the PVC pipe to two 90 degree fittings.  I painted the 90 degree fittings with metallic gold.  They make a great railing.

At the last Phoenix Steampunk Convention I found a neat little clock for $10.  It said "Darkcon" on it and the face of the clock was ugly and very hard to read.  (I forgot to take a picture of it before I took it apart.)

I modified the clock slightly and replaced the face.  I think I found a home for it.

I wish I had more time to make some really nice stuff for my new room.  But I'm in a hurry to finish the room.  So I'm making some quick stuff just to finish off the room so I can move in.

Every ship (boat) needs a map.  So I made a place to mount a map and I installed the map today.

Just caught up with this thread, I don't know how I missed it before.
Everything looks wonderful; so realistic looking!
I'm looking forward to seeing it finished; especially the furniture and of course the suprise!

It is an old world map of Indonesia.  In some foreign language.   (Well foreign to me anyway  LOL).

Thank you for the compliments

I did not get much done today.  I had the opportunity to babysit my grandson.

Remember the Inclinometer I made?

Tonight I repainted it a copper color, with a red pointer.

And I hung it up in its new home.

After I hung it up I discovered my submarine has a 10 degree list to starboard.

(Thank you to whoever suggested I have a slight list on the Inclinometer )

Thank you for your help.......

( Only problem is, every time I look at my last photo I start to feel a little sea sick.  I was in the Navy for 5 years.  Every time we left port I felt crappy for two days.  LOL  )

They look like floor lamps, were they kerosene/oil lamps perhapes? An above picture of the top peice might help identify them, not that it matters much.

Love the Inclinometer by the way.

Well they were $5 each so like you said I did not care what they were used for.  But I'm totally stumped as to their original use.  Possibly stair case railings???

The threaded shaft is solid steel.  The top and bottom pieces are the same except the bottom one is bigger.  There is iron weight on the bottom which means they were supposed to sit on the floor.

re: the map, Capt Sir.  Indonesia! no wonder I did not recognise the geography.  A fascinating map as the islands were still being discovered then, well discovered by Europeans anyway.  The locals knew what was what.  I love partially discovered areas - all those portolano lines going out into the unknown, and little bits of islands.  Wonderful.

Haven't commented in a while due to the fact that I was struck dumb by the new fun bits in the workshop. And you're right, I got a bit sea sick just looking at that picture too, so it must be working! The railings add a nice touch to the room as well. Make the walls more accessible, if that makes any sense. It makes them look more finished I guess. Gosh I can't wait till the work table gets installed. And the surprise!

I’m leaning towards candlesticks now (like for a church setting, I think I went to a church with something like that once) with the assumption your hands are bigger than mine, but like you said, who cares, they make great submarine railings.

This looks so fun, it always does. Wonder if I can get permissions to submarine-ify or otherwise steam our guest/game room. It’s such an empty room, and there’s already a dragon mural in my room. It’s funny calling a room that now doesn’t have a bed the guest room. I always tell people these big plans I’d have if I won the lottery, but my sister figured me out, that I’d probably buy a big house and decorate all the rooms with their own theme.

A few weeks ago I found this clock at the thrift store.  It's an ugly clock, but I thought it had some steampunk potential.

So I brought it for $4.

Here's what I did with it:

Cut off some of the detail and make some hooks for it.  Then paint it flat black.

Highlight it with silver.

Hang it on the bulkhead.

Mount the swords.

Mount the guns.

And now I have a ships armory................
