Today I installed the strips of wood on top of the I-beams.  Now they look like I-beams !!!

You can see how I had to prop up the strips with pieces of wood while the glue dried.

While the glue dried I painted the window gold.  I also installed the fan that I made out of a brass lamp.

Thank you so much to those who said I should install the strips.  The I-beams look great !!
I weathered the I-beams to look like rusty red steel.

Taking pictures is difficult.  When I use the flash it makes the orange look too bright.  They look good in subdued light.  It's going to be interesting when I install lights in the room.

Here are some pictures with and without the camera flash.

NO FLASH

WITH FLASH

I-beams are finished !!!

Rope lighting placed inside PVC pipes with at least 1/3 of the pipe cut away
( mounted cut side up )

Or a single tube fluorescent fixture laid in the pipe ( might give more light.... )

I was about to suggest something very much along those lines.

If that is the cord for the fan I see I think you need to install some conduit for it instead of
just letting it hang....

It's difficult to take pictures of the whole room in one frame.  But I will try and get some better overall pictures after the electrical is done.

How about a short video as you pan around the room?

Can I come and visit? The rust and the corrosion is killing me – I must clean it up!  Cheesy

Those I-beams look...well...like I-beams, Capt.  Corroded, filthy I-beams.  I mean that in the best way possible.  You are doing fantastic work.  Thanks for letting us spy on it.

You could buy a lot of gew-gaws for your workshop if you charged for tours!   Grin

Lt. Corvidae will be closely guarded during the visit.

What if we get permission slips signed by our mothers?

I painted the pipes today.  I also painted and installed the corner decorations.

The corner decorations were highlighted with gold on the gears, rivets and the front edge.

Tomorrow I paint the inside of the hatch.

Then the electrical and lights go in...............

You know, I do this sort of thing, on occasion, for a living, and I must admit that I am highly impressed, maybe even a little jealous!

Might have to come and visit myself...
