How you make those beams look so convincingly rusty is beyond me...watching this whole project unfold is amazing.
The SS Rusty Beams is not a bad name.  SS Rusty Bucket?

Did you decide on a name, yet?

Thank you for the compliments my friends.

Last night I sat down at the computer to post more progress pictures.  At that moment I got a call from my daughter.  She was at the hospital and ready to deliver my third grandchild.  So off to the hospital to see my brand new granddaughter.  Wonderful !!

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.  Yesterdays progress.

I painted the inside of the main hatch acrylic metallic copper.  This is the base color.

Then I added some enamel metallic copper.

Then I added the brown and patina.

Before I post the pictures, let me say I had some reservations about the inside wall color.  I originally wanted to paint the inside walls as aged copper with corrosion.  But I decided against it because that would have made the inside of the room very dark.  After finishing the door I thought it looked so cool that I again thought I should have done the walls in corroded copper.  But oh well, I still think it would have been too dark.

Here is the results of the weathering on the inside of the hatch.

That door paint job/weathering/aging is incredibly convincing. Hard to believe it's just a  plain wooden door under all that!

Should I perchance win the National or European Lottery this weekend I'm of a mind to offer you a very well paid job overseeing the total transformation of my house in similar style. Or maybe one of the other houses I'll have.

I think that I would be far too scared to come and visit you.  That is such a worn-out room it might sink under my weight!!

Today I installed the electrical.  The fan switch is on top.  The light switch is on the bottom.

AND WE HAVE LIGHTS !!!

I took the advice of one of the board members, I think it was Mr. Maets.  I used a dimmer switch for the lights and I installed a water valve handle on it.  Thank you Mr. Maets.

And now we have a working fan !

I also installed the air conditioning vent.  And I connected it to the duct work.

Tomorrow I will weather the copper pipes and lights.

And tomorrow I will try to take a walk through video of the room.  I guess I'll have to post the video on YouTube.  Wish me luck as I have never done this before...........

Today I weathered the electrical conduit (copper pipes) the lights, the fan and the AC vent.

I also installed covers on all of the wall outlets.

OK, here we go.  I filmed a walk through of the room in it's current unfinished condition.  I still need to paint the floor and add other details.  The video is silent.  After I filmed the video I realized I could have added sound.  I'll add sound for the final walk through video.....

I also could not figure out how to post the video on this forum.
So you will have to go to this link to see it.

I'm working on a steel plate floor.  Something kind of like this.

I have followed this project with interest - a charming and innovative one. May I just suggest that you consider videoing it at night? I am sure some are curious about how those wonderful caged lights look, and the transparent fish. The floor you propose will doubtless look wonderful.

Yes, a Yorkshire Terrier.  (I guess from Yorkshire England..  LOL)
I did not want him following me around while I did the video.
If you know the Yorkshire Terrier, you'll know that they must be in control of and a part of all activities that go on in the home.

Thank you so much for the compliments.  It keeps me going.
I'm getting close to the end of this project and I'm getting somewhat impatient.  I want to see it done.

Today I worked on a special detail that I am keeping a secret.  It is a surprise for the end.
Hey, I get to keep one suprise for the end don't I ?

Here is a detail I added a few days ago.  I found this old pressure gauge a few months ago in an antique store.  It cost me $30.  It's brass and it already had some real blue-green patina !!!

Here it is after I weathered the copper fittings.
