I rather like that design.
(FWIW, the cool thing to do would be to link back to the site where you found the design. Y'know, just so everyone knows where it came from.)

Continuing AWESOMENESS!!
Make sure you tell people you show this to once finished which of the 'controls and valves' you have made do not move or you will be repairing them after they try them out.... lol

That's correct !! You see, we Steampunkers' operate in a reverse universe so the backwards compass would be appropriate........ LOL It's been fixed.

Yes, your very smart ! I did not think of this until a few days ago. It's already happened. Someone tried to move the handle on my air lock adjustment knob. I have grandkids (babies) so eventually I may have to make the knob and my one valve handle operable. Scheese !

Aw man, I thought they were movable! I probably would have been one of those to break them then... if I see a valve or switch, I cant help myself. I'm that person that walks down the light switch aisle in Lowes Home Improvements and clicks all of the switches.
You gotta have something to play with!

Oh, and my desktop image may be of use too, so here it is. It's from a Russian submarine (don't ask how...) The dials are radioactive and illuminate after a torch has shone on them... illuminous paint, it's a wonderful thing!

You gotta add a large clear tube full of water ( with a touch of blue food coloring ) in one corner, lit from the bottom, with an air pump for bubbles. Just make sure you can drain and refill the water from timer to time.
( this thought just occured to me... )

It just needs an animatronic kraken to float outside the window, triggered by a motion sensor and a model ship with animatronic sailo...oh okay. Game's up

As of today I have every detail figured out. Except, the scene outside the window. I wish I was an artist and I had more money. I may end up with a transparent blue background with a few mechanical fish. At least that's what I'm experimenting with at this time.

I'm not sure I completely understand what the window actually is... What is on the 'outside' of the window? How much space is there to use? Lighting?

Here is what my window looks like: Notice that the submarine window is on the side of the sliding glass door that does not move. Also the part of the sliding glass door that moves wipes across the outside of the submarine window. The submarine window is 28 inches in diameter. The sliding glass door leads out to an open patio. Lots of sunlight comes in this window. And I can turn on the patio light at night time. There is enough room between the outside of the submarine window glass and the sliding part of the door to install a piece of Plexiglas that is painted with an underwater scene. I just can't paint an artistic piece worth a darn. I would need a piece of transparent art 36 inches by 36 inches. I love the aquarium idea, but I don't think I want to go to that extent.

What about the young man who did the yellow brick road on the floor? Or do we not like him anymore? I would offer my services, but I have never been much good with paint as a medium.

He is the father of my grandson. Yeah, he would do it, but he is very busy with other projects. And he needs me to buy all of the materials. I could wait for him to do it......... Here is some of his work. My daughter is really into the Beatles.

Its always good to have an artist in the family. I had some other ideas for the fish, but then you would be working on this workshop for forever.
